CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

Introduction and Background

Workforce planning is considered as the ongoing and most critical process through
which a corporation analyses their workforce and determines the activities it has to
take to meet future staffing requirements. These factors may influence whether future
skill requirements are addressed through recruitment, training, or outsourcing.
Workforce planning is critical because it encourages individuals, from management
and staff, to think about the future, both for themselves and for the company (Abas and
et. al., 2018). It necessitates that managers and supervisors plan ahead of time and
examine all business possibilities. The goal of strategic workforce planning is to
continuously assess personnel and their performance, preventing the company from
being blindsided by their workforce's ever-changing requirements. Workforce
planning helpful to meet the potential employees related demand of the company for
the future purpose so that complete and appropriately improve their business
operations in order to maintain their long term sustainability rate. HR manager of the
company is liable to use effective work for planning process and also maintain proper
coordination with the workforce planning analyst so that manager can effectively
integrate, trickle down the current situation of the organisation and also maintain the
report with the help of project QUESTs strategic & also operational plans. The main
concern of the research project is to highlight the significance of the workforce
planning & development about the Pret A Manager organisation which is considered
as the famous International sandwich store and also long franchise chain based on the
London, United Kingdom. This organisation established in the year 1983 and this
organisation offering their goods & services in various locations more than 317 in
London. This report will discuss about the importance of the workforce planning &
also discuss it's benefits so that organisation can effectively remove the obstacles
during the workforce planning time. This report will conduct small research to identify
the effective outcomes.

The aims or purpose of the research

To analyse the impact of workforce planning and development for the enhancement
and also profitability of the organisation”. A case study of Pret A Manager in Hong
Kong

The problem statement


In order to find out the appropriate solutions in the research, it is necessary for the
researcher to focus on the problem statement of specific topic and research area so that
researcher can effectively generalize those factors which can helpful to resolve the
problems & frame the best output of this current research. This research is all about to
practice the workforce planning and on the basis of this research, it is analysed that the
Pret A Manager organisation is facing the problem related with their workforce and
also want to hire more talented and potential employees so that they can helpful to
improve the future situation of the organisation. In order to identify the exact problem
which is facing by the organisation , manager of the organisation is looking forward to
implement all the effective strategies & techniques so that manager can effectively
forecast & analyse the future requirements and then prepare a plan to meet the future
demand of the workforce at the current time period. In context of the problem which
are facing by the company , it is determined that workforce and another individuals of
the company need to maintain their performance and then try to give their best but
due to lack of potential workforce , it is critical to improve the situation of the
organisation. With the help of this study, company can appreciate focus on the
workforce planning & development so that company can appropriately maintain their
performance level and meet the demand of the future with the help of potential & best
talent (Ebrahimpour and et. al., 2021).

Research objectives

 To identify the aspects of workforce planning for the success of the


organisation.
 To determine the significance of workforce planning to improve the
productivity and efficiency level of the organisation.
 To analyse the benefits of the workforce planning in order enhance the
performance level of the organisation for future purpose.
 To examine the some of the common challenges which are facing by the
organisation during workforce planning.

 What is the aspect of workforce planning for the success of the organisation?
 What is the significance of workforce planning to improve the productivity and

 Which are the benefits of the workforce planning in order enhance the
performance level of the organisation for future purpose?
 Which are the common challenges which are facing by the organisation during

Scope of my research

The scope of this research is more because it is helpful to identify the current
requirement of the organisation so that manager of the firm can appropriately
formulate their strategy in order to evolve their recruitment process. The main motive
of this study is to generalize the current need of the organisation & then apply the
applications of the workforce planning so that manager can easily improve the
effectiveness of their organisation. With the help of workforce planning and
development, company can fulfil the future staff requirement (Jnitova., Elsawah and
Ryan, 2017). Apart from this, company can take effectively human resource decision,
reduce the hiring cost, analyse the talent gap and retain skilled and talented workforce
in their organisation so that they can contribute for the future purpose. The scope of
this study is also wider because it can helpful to generalise the impact of the workforce
planning & development so that company can effectively meet the demand &fulfil the
requirement of the organisation for the future purpose (Wilkinson., Carryer and
Budge, 2018).

Significance of and justification for my research

Workforce planning aids in the recruitment and retention of sufficient people with the
specific values, abilities, and experience to offer high-quality, person-centred care now
and for the future. With the increasing demands for senior social care services, it will
be more crucial than ever for enterprises to plan properly for future labour
requirements. The significance of the study is more because with the help of this
research, company can improve their employee’s retention and maintain the high
potential workforce who are capable to meet the future requirements of the company.
Through proper practices of workforce planning, company can appropriately improve
their business operations in order to development of the employees and also
succession planning (Opalek. and Greenberg., 2017). As per the justification of this
research , it can be determined that small scale research will be conduct which can
help to generalise the impact of the all the effective terms of the workforce planning so
that human resource manager can focus on the strategic hiring process & then hire the
best talent in their organisation in order to full fill the demand of the future. The main
purpose of this research is to identify the impact of workforce planning and also
development to maintain and also enhance the success rate of the organisation.
Workforce planning ties recruitment, employing, talent management, and career
planning together by defining needed capabilities, assisting recruiters in recruiting and
selecting with those talents, and assisting managers in creating additional growth paths
for their employees. With the help of this study, organisation can improve their
succession planning activities and also recruitment process so that manager can
effectively full fill the future demand of workforce in future (Thistlethwaite,, Dunston
and Yassine,, 2019).
Overview of the structure of my project (briefly outline each chapter 1-6)

Chapter 1
In this chapter is mainly concerned about the basic information about the research
topic and also helpful to understand the need of the research, significance of the
research and also determine the scope of the research. Introduction and background of
the study is the main targeted area of this research. The prime aim of this research is to
identify the impact of the workforce planning & also development so that organisation
can appropriately maintain their requirements of staff members for the future purpose.
The primary responsibility of the researcher is to focus on some specific strategies
which can helpful to accomplish the aim & objective of this research.
Chapter 2
This chapter is totally dedicated towards the previous knowledge and research study.
With the help of literature review, it will make more suitable for the researcher to
enhance the deep understanding about the research area that is workforce planning &
development.
Chapter 3
This chapter is all about to discuss the research methodology of the study so that
researcher can effectively set the parameters of this current research and them properly
follow research process and generalise the tools & technologies which are going to use
in this research.
Chapter 4
In this chapter, researcher need to analyse the data with the help of specific statistical
tools in order to analyse the data and find out the appropriate findings and outcomes of
the study.

In this chapter, proper discussion of this research will be determine so that researcher
can maintain the applicability of the research.

This last chapter is demonstrate the specific outcome of the research and discuss about
