QRI SUMMARY

After assessing the QRI with my student, he did not enjoy doing this for me, but I

motivated him by giving him a choice to pick something from the prize box. Overall, he did not a

bad job with the QRI, he did struggle with somethings, but he was able to overcome those issues.

With word recognition, he was able to accomplish this sections by giving his best job at saying

each word, I pointed to them and if he had trouble thinking of a certain word, he would then start

to sound out the word for him to figure out what it is. Also, having him be from being

instructional and going to frustration can be hard for me to do certain lessons with him, but we

were able to figure out lessons for us to do together. Having him answer certain questions from

the reading, he would go back into the story to try and find out what the animals or the people

were doing in the story. From seeing his responses to the explicit and implicit questions, he was

able to accomplish them by thinking each question through and then he would give me an answer

to the following questions that I stated. With comprehension, he was able to tell me what

happened in the story, but he had to go back through before telling me what happened step by

step in the stories. Furthermore, with the fluency section, I thought he would have some trouble

because he usually does not understand what is happening in the story even though he is able to

read them. he reads very slow making sure that he reads every word right and if he did not know

a word, he would skip over it or he would try to segment the word and then he would continue

reading the little passage.
