Draft UAS Electric Vehicle Policy 2020

1. The provision of charging infrastructure is a key driver of electric vehicles. The objective of the
policy should be to create and enabling environment for the provisions of privates as well as
public charging infrastructure.
2. The requisite provision in the building byelaws shall be made to make all new residential areas,
commercial areas and workplaces parking EV ready (with conduits and power supply
infrastructure in play for electric vehicle charger. The Group Hosuing Societies, Offices,
Industries etc. shall provide shared excess to electric vehicles charging points for the users.
3. For makiingh electric vehicles success in the city, the basic infrastructure required for the
electric vehicles should be provide i.e. electric charging points, battery setups, up gradation of
the Electricity distribution system, which are generally quite loaded and enough spare capacity
is not available to support charing infrastructure required for EVs.
4. The provison of charging , servicing and swapping infrastructure, developing on eco sytem of
fast charing or swapping of battery etc.
5. To make public aware about electric vehicles, awareness zones/areas should be developed
where general public can take test drive and experience electric vehicles for their use.
6. The car uses in the Govt. and taxi fleets can be covered in the car phase.
7. The delivery/distribution vehicles of high intensity usage companies like Amazon, Flipkart,
Zomato etc. should also be covered in the early phase.
8. The public transport sytems, w.r.t last mile connectivity i.e. rickshaw, e-auto e-carts etc. should
be covered by giving better incentives/subsidization.
9. The provision of easy loan for electric vehicles should be introduced some corporations
banks/should come forward for lending loand for e-vehicles at less rate of interest.
10. The new fleet on intra-city buses to be procured for the city should be pure electric.
11. The different types of incentive i.e. rebate/waiver in parking charges should be given on
purchase and for the promotion of electric vehicles to the registered owners of e-rickshaws, e-
autos e-carts goods, carrier vehicles e-cars etc.
12. UAS should be pioneer in reducing the total carbon footprint of the transport sector to meet the
targets, challenges fixex beyond the climate change targets fixed by Paris Accord.
13. UAS should be a role model for creating human resources from the classification assimilation
fabrication and maintenance of EV technology to the upcoming needs of such newer
technologies as a torch bearer in the region, if not in the country.
