Amidst challenges brought by the new normal due to the current COVID-19
pandemic, the Institute continues to advocate reforms and promote effective actions
to bring its members at the core of global recognition and ensure success of Filipino
practitioners worldwide.

Hence our theme this year, "TRANSCENDING THE CHALLENGES IN THE NEW
NORMAL BY EMBRACING RESILIENCY AND COMPLEMENTARITY,” echoes the
organization’s unrelenting campaign to elevate the profile of Filipino Electrical
Engineers globally.

As you continue to strive for excellence in the field of electrical engineering, may the
institute will likewise encourage our chapters in promoting camaraderie through
virtual gatherings to sustain solidarity within the organization despite the challenges
confronting during the current pandemic situation.

Organizing such an event at this point of time reinforces our objective of developing
an environment for the exchange of ideas towards technological developments. I
wish the conference would be able to deliberate on current issues of national and
international relevance, particularly in the field of electrical engineering.

Message

It has always been the mission of the Institute to enhance the competencies of
electrical practitioners to make a positive contribution towards the new trends and
technologies. Indeed, such mandate was yet again fulfilled through this 23rd IIEE-
CRCSA Online Mid-year Convention hosted by the Central Region Chapter Saudi
Arabia (CRCSA) and the incoming hosting of the chapter for the AER conferment.

My warmest congratulations to the CRCSA chapter officers for successfully

delivering this event which resounds to the benefits of our members not only in
this part of the Foreign Region but also to those who virtually attended this much-
needed online gathering.

Consistent with this year’s theme, “GOT-1-IIEE@46: Transcending the Challenges

in the New Normal by Embracing Resiliency and Complementarity”, this virtual
convention rises above hurdles and difficulties brought about by the new normal.
All for the services to our members, and more so our beloved organization. I am
profoundly grateful for
having such a dedicated and hard-working team on my side which makes my
presidential term
not only memorable and rewarding but fulfilling as well.

As we GOT-1-IIEE, I enjoin the Central Region Chapter Saudi Arabia chapter

officers to continue providing this kind of indispensable program and activities as it
immensely contributes to the development of our members.

Salute and praises to the men and women behind the CRCSA.

Yours in IIEE,

Engr. Allan Anthony P. Alvarez

Message
Technology now allows people to connect anytime, anywhere, to
anyone in the world, from almost any device. This is dramatically
changing the way people work, facilitating 24/7 collaboration with
colleagues who are dispersed across time zones, countries, and
continents!
- Michael Dell-

Welcome all delegates to the IIEE-CRCSA Mid-Year Convention held on the

18th June 2021 delivered virtually through online Zoom application.
Congratulations to the Chapter Board Of Directors and Committee members
for its resiliency and creativity to once again finding ways in delivering this
online convention into the chapter’s membership.

As our IIEE theme for this year implies: “GOT-1-IIEE@46:

"Transcending the Challenges in the New Normal by Embracing
Resiliency and Complementarity”, we need to be resolute and continue
improving and educating ourselves by adapting and enhancing our skills &
capabilities in order for us to be aware and informed and equipped in our
extra ordinary journey towards global and local connectivity to maintain our
competitiveness worldwide.

Amidst this global pandemic brought about by the

severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2
(SARS-CoV-2) popularly known as coronavirus
disease (COVID-19), being electrical practitioners,
we are at the frontline in the production of
sustainable energy that powers the global economy.
The world is expecting us to maintain the continuous
and uninterrupted flow and delivery of this most
precious energy that powers all sectors of society.

Page 21
“ Transcending t he C hallenges i n t h e N e w N ormal by E m bracing Re siliency & Complementarity”

We are therefore upfront in facing the challenges that lie ahead of us.
We need to be resilient, adept, skillful and technically well-versed in all
aspects of energy production, transmission, and distribution. All the
challenges, the burden and great demand of energy in the future will
rely heavily on us being the professionals that are acquainted with
power and energy.

Being professionally qualified, is still is not quite enough to really say

that we are bound to a journey of never-ending success. We must
continue to educate ourselves. Gather more skills. Learn new
technology. We also need to be globally recognized – therefore we need
to undergo professional upgrades in order to be at par with whole world.

Our Foreign Region leadership is upfront in creating programs that will

support the upgrading mechanisms of its members. During the just
concluded 8th Foreign Regional Conference on the 14th & 15th of May
2021 held at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai, UAE and virtually through
online Zoom application, various breakout rooms were conducted in
order to deliver the much needed requirements and guidelines for such
upgrading. We are hopeful that all aspirants and applicants of the
different upgrades can benefit from the results presented during the
event.

Once again, thank you to the officers led by the

energetic Chapter President Engr. Edwin G. Cayabyab
for a job well-done. Thank you also to all the members
who have joined and attended this event. This is
another journey that you can use for your professional
upgrade.
Thank you and more power to us all.
Mabuhay!

take extra miles for the professional advancement of OFWs in Riyadh. A
legacy that I could offer when I leave Saudi Arabia.

My message to my colleagues in the electrical professions, “You did not

become professionals to enrich yourself. Be of service to those who are in
need of your expertise and always try to make a difference in whatever
you do. Don’t be contented of just making yourself and your family
comfortable. Always have a heart for the less fortunate”. Share your
knowledge and experience to others because it return back ten folds.

Thank you CRCSA for giving me this opportunity to be one

of the finalist in this 2021 PRC Outstanding Professional of
the Year Award in the field of Electrical Engineering.

To all the working Committees headed by the Chapter

President, Engr. Edwin G. Cayabyab congratulations for a
job well done for making this Convention possible.

In the last quarter of year 2019 a deadly pandemic swarmed across the
globe, and in the following year, 2020, it spread rapidly that made our
world seemingly stopped from spinning, like a deserted planet. During
those days until today IIEE-CRCSA never stopped from spinning in its
commitments, providing a helping hand and sharing knowledge to the
community, to its members and aspirants (PEE, ACPE/AER, REE & RME) to
attain their goals and dreams in becoming licensed professionals with their

Mabuhay and Welcome to IIEE-CRCSA 23rd Midyear Convention!

I would like to congratulate the 2021 Board of Directors and the entire
IIEE-CRCSA family for the successful conduct of Online 23rd Midyear
Convention this June 18, 2021.

Looking from the sideline, former president like myself saw how the IIEE-
CRCSA and its members have evolved in order to thrive despite of the
crippling effect brought by the COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning of
2020 to these days. The chapter and its member have become more
resilient and accustomed to all restrictions and necessary precautions
allowing us to become more resourceful and innovative.

The “New Normal” way of life has given lots of challenges as well as new
opportunities that everybody needs to anticipate in order to react well,
timely and appropriately. IIEE is no exception. Today, the entire IIEE-
CRCSA is well connected to all local and international chapters serving its
members to be aligned technically as well as personally with co-members,
colleagues, friends and families in whatever part of the world they may be.
The crisis that is so deadly, made us find ways to survive and grow.

The 2021 IIEE Theme: “Transcending the

Challenges in the New Normal by Embracing
Resiliency and Complementarity” best describes
everything that we do today and will continue to be the
guiding principle should we want to surpass all
challenges amidst this entire crisis. It is no longer just
an IIEE theme but rather, it is a mantra that everybody
need to live with, as this New Norma is here to stay and
this is the only way we can prevail.

Whatever we do, safety should come first, for the sake

of our members and of our family.

Once again, my congratulations. BE SAFE EVERYONE!
