The Third Day
Jesus Presented humiliation of the baker. The redeemed were
the 3rd day concept
with the example of
Jonah: ‘so shall the
Son of man be three
days and three nights in the heart of the earth.’
Another time, Jesus foretold his resurrection
after 3 days as relating his body to the temple,
“and in three days I will raise it up, Jn2:19.” On
other occasions he directly stated he would
arise on the 3rd day after death by cruci xion.

Joseph’s dream interpretations may o er
insights to the workings of Jesus 3 days in “the
belly of the earth.” For in the interpretation of
these dreams, the 3 days represents two vastly
di erent results for Joseph’s jail companions.
Pharaoh’s cup bearer got more than just a
reprieve from jail. For the cupbearer was fully
restored to working directly for Pharaoh.
Conversely, the baker’s release condemned his
life to hanging upon a tree. These two paths
spell out the relief granted to believers and the
condemnation of those who oppose God’s
grace. Yet, Joseph must wait another 2 years in
prison. After this Joseph
ascended to rule all Egypt,
second only to Pharaoh.
These 2 years relate to Christ
awaiting yet another 2000
years for the Kingdom of
God to be wholly manifest.

The substance of Christ resurrection is how
Jesus made a show of the ruling powers by
openly triumphing over them. This was shown
by His resurrection from the dead on the 3rd
day, having spoiled principalities and powers by
victory over death. In this death, burial, &
resurrection, believers participate by baptism.

Just as Joseph was left in prison so did Christ
preach unto the spirits in prison. Also as with
Joseph, over all the land of Egypt, so Christ is
appointed to the right hand of God; with angels,
authorities, and powers
being subject unto him. Paul
says ‘we are raised up and
seated together with Christ
This same picture is spelt
out in Moses delivery of the
Law unto the ancient
hebrews. For some it was
condemnation, yet for others it gave life and
hope.
Finally the 3rd day could represent a
consummation of all things in 3 God-days of
1,000 years each from the time of Christ
baptism. As also indicated by Jonah’s 3 day
trek to preach to all people of Nineveh and the
3 days of Joseph companions.
• “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be
made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the
rst fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his
coming. Then comes the end, when he shall have
delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father;
when he shall have put down all rule and all authority
and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all
enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be
destroyed is death. For he has put all things under his
manifest that he is excepted which did put all things
under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto
him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto
him that put all things under him, that God may be all
