Hello today I’ll be discussing to you the different types of

electromagnetic waves. This are radio waves, microwaves, infrared

waves, visible light, ultraviolet waves, x-rays and gamma rays.

RADIO WAVES
Radio waves have the longest wavelengths than all electromagnetic
waves. They extend from approximately one foot long to several miles
long. Radio waves are often used for data transmission and have been
used for a wide range of applications, including satellites, radio, radars
and computer networks.
MICROWAVES
Microwaves have shorter wavelengths than the radio waves, we use it
to transmit information, cook food and in radar that helps predict the
weather. They cay be useful in communication because they can
penetrate smoke, clouds, and light rain.
INFRARED WAVES
Infrared waves are between microwaves and visible light. They are
sometimes classified as two which are near infrared and far infrared.
Near infrared waves are the waves that are closer to visible light in
wavelength. These are the infrared waves that are used in your TV
remote to change channels. While Far infrared waves are further away
from visible light in wavelength. N

VISIBLE LIGHT
Visible light spectrum is the segment of the electromagnetic spectrum
which the human eye can visualize. In other words, the wavelength
range is called visible light. In general, the human eye can detect
wavelengths ranging from 380-700 nanometres.

ULTRAVIOLET WAVES
UV waves have the shortest wavelength following visible light. It is the
ultraviolet rays of the Sun that induce sunburns. The ozone layer
protects us against the ultraviolet rays of the Sun. Some insects, like
bumblebees, can see ultraviolet light. UV light is used by powerful
telescopes such as the Hubble Space Telescope to see distant stars.
X-rays
X-rays have wavelengths that are even shorter than ultra-violet rays. At
this stage of the electromagnetic spectrum scientists are starting to
think about these rays are more like particles than waves. X-rays were
found by the German scientist Wilhelm Roentgen.

And lastly Gamma Rays

Gamma rays are the shortest waves on the spectrum and thus have
more energy. Gamma-rays are often used to treat cancer and provide
detailed images for diagnostic medicine. Gamma rays are generated in
high-energy nuclear explosives and supernovae.
Ant that is the end of the discussion thankyou for listening.
