1. The Hello, Goodbye Window


a. The Hello, Goodbye Window is a children's picture book written by Norton Juster and
illustrated by Chris Raschka. Published in 2005, the book tells the story of a little girl who
enjoys visiting her grandparents. Grades 2-3
i. John 4:12 “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us
and his love is made complete in us.”
1. This verse touches on the aspect of family and the importance of loving
them.
2. Ten Apples Up On Top
a. This book by Dr. Seuss describes 3 animals trying to outdo each other by seeing who can
put the most apples up on top of their heads. Grades 1
i. Romans 12:10 “Did you catch that? We are commanded to outdo one another.”
1. The verse resembles the roles of the animals in the story.
3. Marley and Me
a. John Grogan’s novel “Marley and Me” is an autobiographical story about his childhood,
his adult life with his family and beloved dog – Marley. Grades 1-2
i. Psalm 9:9-10 “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of
trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never
forsaken those who seek you.”
1. This verse relates to Marley and Me because it shows how no matter
the situation even if it is sad, that the Lord will always be with us.
