Methods

This section presents the research design, respondents, data gathering

tools and procedures, and data management used. In the completion of the

study. In this study, the two variables are the Residences of Barangay

Ilocanos Sur and their Level of Awareness Regarding R.A 9003 Solid Waste

Management.

Research Design

In order to investigate The Level of Awareness Regarding R.A 9003

Solid Waste Management among the Residences of Barangay Ilocanos Sur,

this study will adopt quantitative approach.

To identify The Level of Awareness Regarding R.A 9003 Solid Waste

Management among the Residences of Barangay Ilocanos Sur, the

descriptive method will be used. This method aims to identify whether the

Level of Awareness is significantly or insignificantly related when the subjects

are to be grouped separated accordingly to Likert Scale: 5) Very Highly

Aware, 4) Highly Aware, 3) Moderately Aware, 2) Slightly Aware 1) Not Aware

at All.

According to Creswell (2002), descriptive research involves identification

attributes of a particular phenomenon based on an observational basis, or the

exploration of correlation between two or more phenomena.

To find out the Level of Awareness of the respondents that will be

identified and classified based on the category, quantitative data will also be

validated.

Respondents
The respondents of this research will be the Residences of Barangay

Ilocanos Sur of San Fernando City La Union. Purposive Sampling is

intentional selection of informants based on their ability to elucidate a specific

theme, concepts or phenomenon.

Data Gathering Tool

The questionnaire is intended to collect data about the Level of

Awareness Regarding R.A 9003 Solid Waste Management. The questionnaire

is composed of two main parts for the respondents, the profile and the

questionnaire. The researchers will gather questionnaires from the

respondents, we will interview them regarding their points of view on the

impact of Solid Waste Management and will record their responses to able to

review the information give. For the second part, we will be measuring their

Level of Awareness Regarding R.A 9003 Solid Waste Management: 5 is the

highest and 1 is the lowest.

The online research survey will be distributed to 50 persons of

Barangay Ilocanos Sur.

The questionnaire will be validated of the experts Mrs. Carmela

Doydora, Mr. Rogelio Magsanoc and Mrs. Precilda Sanchez in order for it to

be qualified as a tool for gathering the data needed for the study.

Data Gathering Procedure


The necessary data for this research will be gathered through the

following steps: First, the researcher will get in touch with the Barangay

Captain of the Barangay Ilocanos Sur and will ask permission to float
questionnaire for the residents on how to practice or how to do the Solid

Waste Management.

Second, the Barangay Ilocanos sur will be assigned to answer said

questionnaire. Then, the answered questionnaires will be collected and

analyzed.

Last, the answer will be tallied based on the Likert Scale 5) Very Highly

Aware, 4) Highly Aware, 3) Moderately Aware 2) Slightly Aware, 1) Not Aware

at all.

Data Management

This barangay elaborates the statistical tool that will be used in order to

compute the data gathered to come up with an accurate result.

For the profile of the Barangay Ilocanos Sur, the researchers will make

use of the frequency count and percentage. As for the significant relationship

between the profile of Barangay Ilocanos Sur and Level of Awareness

Regarding R.A 9003 Solid Waste Management will be used.
