2. CHILD DOESN’T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND LANGUAGE
Many parents think their child “understands everything” but actually the child is following
the gestures, tone, or contextual cues in order to understand and many not actually
understand the words they are saying.

3. NOT ENGAGING OR SOCIALIZING AS MUCH AS OTHER KIDS


This is a big one! Pay attention to how other kids that are similar in age to your interact
with adults and other kids.

4. CHILD IS USING MOSTLY OR ONLY SOUNDS RATHER THAN WORDS


Is your child using words or just relying on sounds? This is common for kids who want to
talk but don’t have the skills.

5. CHILD IS HIGHLY FRUSTRATED


Kids who want to talk but don’t have the skills can become very frustrated and even
aggressive. Don’t waste time, get your child enrolled in speech therapy as soon as you
can.
