 Common Complaints of Breast Disease

• Breast pain, nipple discharge and a palpable mass ➔ benign breast

disease.
• Breast pain alone is rarely a presenting symptom of cancer
• A nipple discharge ➔ clear, foul, bloody, single/bilateral
• A dominant breast mass requires histologic diagnos. ➔ The
management of a solid mass depends on the degree of clinical
suspicion and the patient's age.

BREAST MASS
Klinis
• Sering pada wanita usia muda
• Benjolan pada payudara
• Bisa single / multiple
• Nyeri : +/-
• Riwayat keluarga ➔ Kadang – kadang ada
 Breast Mass : Evaluation
Initial evaluation
• <35 yr ➔ Breast Ultrasound
• >35 yr ➔ mammogram + Breast Ultrasound

Further evaluation
• Simple cyst
• Asymptomatic : observe 2-4 months
• Symptomatic : aspirate
• Complicated cyst ➔ aspirate and cytology
• Solid mass ➔ FNAB / core needle biopsy
• No specific findings ➔ re examine after 2 cycles
NIPPLE DISCHARGE
 COLOUR AND CAUSE OF NIPPLE DISCHARGE

• Purulent : infection, periductal mastitis

• Milky : galaktorhea
• Serous / serosanguinous : intraductal papilloma,
ductal ectasia, cancer
• Watery : papilloma, cancer
• Green / gray / black / tan : Duct ectasia
