1. Away in a Manger 34. The First Noel

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The first Noel the angels did say
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay, they lay;
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay. In fields where they lay keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes. Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the Born is the King of Israel!
sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh. They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east, beyond them far;
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
And to the earth it gave great light,
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray. And so it continued both day and night.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there. Noel! Noel! Noel! Noel!
Born is the King of Israel!
33. Silent Night 2. Deck the halls

Silent night! Holy night! Deck the halls with boughs of holly,
All is calm, all is bright Fa la la la la, la la la la.
round yon Virgin Mother and Child, ‘Tis the season to be jolly,
Holy infant so tender and mild, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
sleep in Heavenly peace! Don we now our gay apparel,
sleep in Heavenly peace! Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Toll the ancient Yule tide carol,
Silent night! Holy night! Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Shepherds quake at the sight;
glories stream from Heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ, the Saviour, is born!
Christ, the Saviour, is born!

Silent night! Holy night!

Son of God, Love’s pure light
radiant, beams from Thy Holy face,
with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth.
3. Frosty the Snowman 32. O Little Town of Bethlehem
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal O little town of Bethlehem
Frosty the Snowman is a fairytale they say
He was made of snow but the children know
How still we see thee lie
That he came to life one day Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
There must have been some magic Yet in thy dark streets shineth
In that old silk hat they found The everlasting Light
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around The hopes and fears of all the years
Frosty the Snowman was as live as he could be Are met in thee tonight
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
Thumpety thump thump, thumpety thump thump
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Look at Frosty go
Thumpety thump thump, thumpety thump thump Their watch of wondering love
Over the hills of snow O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
Frosty the Snowman knew the sun was hot that day And praises sing to God the King
So he said let’s run and we’ll have some fun
And Peace to men on earth
Now before I melt away down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all around the square How silently, how silently
Saying catch me if you can The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
He led them down the streets of town The blessings of His heaven.
Right to the traffic cop
He only paused a moment when No ear may hear His coming,
He heard him holler stop But in this world of sin,
Frosty the Snowman he had to hurry on his way Where meek souls will receive him still,
But he waved goodbye saying don’t you cry The dear Christ enters in.
I’ll be back again some day
31. O Holy Night 4. Here Comes Santa Claus

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining, Here comes Santa Claus,
It is the night of our dear Saviour’s birth. here comes Santa Claus,
Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Right down Santa Claus lane
‘Til He appear’d and the soul felt its worth. Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, Pullin’ on the reins
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Bells are ringin’, children singin’
All is merry and bright
Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices! Hang your stockings and say your prayers
O night divine, O night when Christ was born; ‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!
O night divine, O night, O night Divine.
Here comes Santa Claus,
here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
He’s got a bag that’s filled with toys
For boys and girls again
Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle,
Oh what a beautiful sight
So jump in bed and cover your head
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!
5. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus 30. O Come All Ye Faithful

O come, all ye faithful,

I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus Joyful and triumphant!
Underneath the mistletoe last night O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
She didn’t see me creep Come and behold him
down the stairs to have a peep; Born the King of Angels:
She thought that I was tucked
up in my bedroom fast asleep O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Then I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus O come, let us adore Him,
Underneath his beard so snowy white; Christ the Lord.
Oh what a laugh it would have been
If Daddy had only seen God of God,
Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night Light of Light,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God,
Begotten, not created:

Sing, choirs of angels,

Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above!
Glory to God
In the highest:

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,

Born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing!

7. Jolly Old Saint Nicholas 28. Joy to the World

Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, Joy to the world! the Lord is come;
Lean your ear this way; Let earth receive her King;
Don’t you tell a single soul Let every heart prepare him room,
What I’m going to say, And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
Christmas Eve is coming soon; And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.
Now you dear old man,
Whisper what you’ll bring to me; Joy to the world! the Saviour reigns;
Tell me if you can. Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and
plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
27. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear 8. Let It Snow

It came upon a midnight clear, Oh the weather outside is frightful,

That glorious song of old, but the fire is so delightful.
From angels bending near the earth, And since we’ve no place to go.
To touch their harps of gold: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
“Peace on the earth, goodwill to men,
From heaven’s all-gracious King.” It doesn’t show signs of stopping,
The world in solemn stillness lay, And I’ve brought some corn for popping.
To hear the angels sing. The lights are turned way down low.
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Still through the cloven skies they come,
With peaceful wings unfurled, When we finally kiss goodnight,
And still their heavenly music floats How I’ll hate going out in the storm!
O’er all the weary world; But if you’ll really hold me tight,
Above its sad and lowly plains, all the way home I’ll be warm.
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever o’er its Babel sounds The fire is slowly dying,
The blessèd angels sing. and, my dear, we’re still good-bying.
As long as you love me so.
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
9. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer 26. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer Hark! the herald angels sing,

had a very shiny nose. “Glory to the new born King,
And if you ever saw him, peace on earth, and mercy mild,
you would even say it glows. God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
All of the other reindeer join the triumph of the skies;
used to laugh and call him names. with th’ angelic host proclaim,
They never let poor Rudolph “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
join in any reindeer games. Hark! the herald angels sing,
“Glory to the new born King!”
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then all the reindeer loved him

as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you’ll go down in history!

17. I Heard the Bells on 18. It’s Beginning to Look a
Christmas Day Lot Like Christmas

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Their old familiar carols play, Ev’rywhere you go;
And wild and sweet the words repeat Take a look in the five and ten
Of peace on earth, good will to men. glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.
I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Had rolled along the unbroken song Toys in ev’ry store
Of peace on earth, good will to men. But the prettiest sight to see
is the holly that will be
And in despair I bowed my head: On your own front door.
“There is no peace on earth,” I said,
“For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:

“God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men.”

Till, ringing singing, on its way,

The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men!
