a six-year-old boy who loves to play the trumpet

Aunty Liz
Harrison‟s mother

Ms. Marilyn
Harrison‟s music teacher

Ms. Ganuta
Ms. Marilyn‟s sister. She can play the trumpet
very well.
CHAPTER 1 HARRISON’S NEW TRUMPET

“ I don‟t want to play the guitar”,

grumbled Harrison. “ A guitar is boring,
anyway.”
“You have to try it”, said Aunty Liz. “If
you don‟t play the guitar, then you‟ll have to play something
else.”
“I have an idea”, said Harrison, “I‟m going to play the trumpet.”
“Are you?” said Aunty Liz, as they went off for breakfast.

After breakfast, they set off to the music shop to buy

a new trumpet.
“My favourite trumpet is the gold one,” said Harrison excitedly.
“Will you buy it?”
“Yes”, said Aunty Liz, “but it is very expensive. You must play it
carefully.”
CHAPTER 2 TOO LOUD

Harrison started trumpet lessons right

away. His teacher‟s name was Ms. Marilyn, and
she knew how to play the trumpet.
“You must press the buttons carefully,” said
Ms. Marilyn, “as you blow into it, so it can
make music”, she continued on.

Harrison did as he was told. He blew into it properly while

he pressed the buttons. But something wrong happened. The
volume was too loud!
All the class covered their ears, except for Ms. Marilyn. She had
to send Harrison for some more trumpet lessons.

CHAPTER 4 READY FOR THE ORCHESTRA

Harrison had more lessons than ever. Soon he was

good enough to play in the orchestra.
“We are going to play „Hot Cross Buns‟”, said Ms. Marilyn.
Harrison liked that song and joined in too.

All the audience was listening. His brother Hudson was

also part of the audience. So were Aunty Liz, Uncle Brad and his
grandmother B.B. Harrison was onstage, playing the trumpet!

Hudson could hear a zither playing, a violin and even a

bagpipe. He could hear all the instruments.
But the most beautiful instrument of all was the sound from
Harrison‟s gold trumpet.
