SHORT WAVE DIATHERMY

According to a recent study, the more people use the Internet, the less time
they spend with real people. One of the tools we usually use is a laptop. The use
of a laptop in a sitting position for a long time can cause disturbances in our
bodies such as low back pain (LBP). LBP causes pain, tenderness, tenderness, or
discomfort in the lumbar region after the sacrum. To reduce pain due to LBP, you
can use Short wave diathermy (SWD).

SWD is a high-frequency electromagnetic field that oscillates to heat an

area on the body surface heating up to a tissue depth but decreasing gradually
from 2 to 3 cm. SWD is often used for musculoskeletal cases, pain, arthritis
(inflammation), joint stiffness and muscle relaxation.

How to use Short Wave Dithermy, namely:

1. prepare tools, such as cables, frequencies, etc.

Make sure the switch and all cables are in good condition and all buttons at zero
position. Cables must not cross each other.

2. Before applying to the patient, make sure there are no cables attached to the
patient (prepare the patient for safe use).

After all preparations are made, SWD can be applied according to the SOP by
means of the patient sleeping on his back or sitting, placing a towel on the
patient's lower back then placing the ped electrode then placing a load on the ped
electrode so that it does not fall. Set the time for 15 minutes and increase the
intensity according to the patient's tolerance. Check the patient every 5 minutes
and ask if it is too hot or not. If the alarm has sounded, turn off the tool, tidy the
tool as it was before.
Short wave diathermy is very helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness,
inflammation, and muscle relaxation during its use in accordance with existing
SOPs. The heat generated by SWD impacts deeper tissues so that faster recovery
can be achieved for therapy.
