4. What methods or sampling techniques did you employ? Why choose this method?
For our sample size, the researchers used convenience sampling method, in which the
researchers collect data from a pool of respondents who are easily accessible. It is the
most often utilized sample technique since it is efficient, simple, and cost-effective.
Also, due to the pandemic the researchers opt to employed this method. That’s why
we came up with a group of 20 small and medium size business compose of service
and merchandising business.
Service and Merchandising - most of the business situated in Calasioa are service and
merchandising businesses, that is why the researchers chose to have a representation
for both service and merchandising business and to gather reliable information.

And to analyze the results of survey responses.. The researchers employed 5 point
likert scale and used simple frequency, graphical charts and it will categorized into
significant, relevant, and informative classes using open coding, which allowed for
the classification of similar responses from respondents into percentages for easier
analysis.

5. What is the rationale of the study? (motivation of the study)

According to the recent study of Nyahuna Fiona's research on the impact of debt
management practices on Zimbabwea SMEs performances it points out that many
small businesses do not place a high importance on debt management. This could
mean that they are not able to effectively manage their financial obligations. So, this
gives ideas to the researchers about this information to assess the debt management
practices in the Calasiao and how it affects their profitability specifically on what
could be there drivers of poor debt management and what are their debt controls
exercised. Due to the pandemic many are SMEs are affected also to the municipality
of Calasiao. (and most of the business will pull out loans or will acquire debts to use
to save their business). In line with this, this research is of great importance because
this research study will provide end users specific recommendations on how to
strengthen and optimize their debt management practices in order to achieve the long-
term success.
