Sales Inventory Management System for CVC Sari - Sari Store

CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

INTRODUCTION

1
Rationale of the Study

Effective inventory management is crucial to the financial viability and competitiveness of

internationally retail businesses in today's dynamic and interconnected global commercial market. The

adoption and successful deployment of a Sales Inventory Management System have crossed limits,

resulting in a major competitive advantage in international markets. This argument explains the crucial

and considerable benefits of deploying a global SIMS, implying its role in ensuring accurate inventory

management, simplifying international supply chains, increasing cross-border customer experiences,

and supporting worldwide corporate growth.

In a world that features cross-border trade and varied customer bases, global merchants and

large businesses rely on accurate inventory management to meet the different needs of international

consumers (Munyaka & Yadavalli, 2022). By maintaining exact stock levels across various locations

and countries, a global SIMS minimizes the risk of stockouts and overstocking. This accuracy is

essential for growing the worldwide market and sustaining high levels of consumer satisfaction.

The Inventory Management System is critical for all businesses aiming to improve operations,

reduce funds, and improve customer satisfaction (Legaspi, 2019b). CPAC Monier Philippines Inc.

conducted appropriate point of view research on the effectiveness of SAP Business One in inventory

management. Small businesses, such as CVC Sari-Sari Store, must adopt creative inventory

management systems in order to compete in the modern retail environment. The purpose of this study

is to look at the development of an inventory and sales management system that is designed to meet

the specific demands of the CVC Sari-Sari Store. That seeks to develop an effective and efficient

2
inventory control system based on Legaspi's (2019b) research and adaptation to the specific

environment of a local firm.

"Sales Inventory Management System for CVC Sari-Sari Store" could suggest a failure to take

into account the particular challenges and opportunities presented when implementing such a system

in a micro-business setting like a sari-sari store, particularly in an economically challenged region.

This research might investigate how the unique characteristics of the sari-sari businesses, such as small

size, diverse inventory, and dependence on informal techniques, impact the design and efficacy of

inventory management solutions. It may also look at the potential impact of such systems on sari-sari

store owners and localities.

Implementing a strong Sales Inventory Management System is critical for increasing the

productivity and sustainability of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses in the Philippines, such

as CVC Sari Sari Store. According to Velita (2020), MSMEs play a big part in the environment of

Cebu, Philippines, and their financial management skills are essential to their development and success.

The Velita (2020) research, sheds light on the financial management practices of MSMEs in Cebu and

underscores the need for stronger financial control procedures. The report is a good starting point for

our SIMS project since it highlights the relevance of addressing inventory-related difficulties in the

context of Philippine MSMEs.

3
Statement of the Problem

This study aims to create a valuable inventory system for CVC sari-sari store. The

particular aims for this study are as follows:

Specifically, this study aims to.

1. To reduce the risk of inventory through better monitoring and control.

2. To provide a manageable use of inventory in the store.

3. To reduce stockouts and overstocking.

4. To monitor and control inventory cost.

5. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of sales and inventory.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This study is mainly limited to determining and analyzing the development of an appropriate

inventory management system and employee monitoring software as a solution to efficiently manage the

CVC store. sales, inventory and stocks, and customer transactions. The use of inventory management

systems and employee monitoring software will be the only information system solutions that will be

discussed and analyzed. The study focuses on how inventory management systems and employee

monitoring software will work for the business and fit into its day-to-day operations, specifically targeting

the processes involved in sales, customer transactions, stocks, and inventory. The employee monitoring and

inventory system only aims to aid the employees with regards to the inventory records of the products and

equipment and the monitoring of the quality and progress of sales and service. This information system will

identify the solutions to the said problems, but it can still be subjected to changes and developments. This

information system does not involve the billing system or payroll of the employees. To keep the data of the

4
company confidential, the inventory and monitoring information system can only be accessed by

management, administrative officers, and IT operations and accounting personnel.

Significance of the Study

The accomplishment of the goals, in this study holds significance for various groups

involved;

Business Owners; Strategies can be applied when it comes to enhancing the CVC Sari Sari store,

it benefits the businesses owners particularly for those who are operating sari-sari stores. Hence,

this would finally increase the supervision and regulation undertakings thus reducing the

possibility of the depletion of inventory and overall, having the prosperous business model

necessary.

Store Managers; Embedding an inventory system serves multiple improvement goals when e-

stablishing agreement with store managers. It not only enhances resource management and control

of inventory but also simplifies daily tasks, leading to increased productivity.

Customers; Customers who often visit the sari-sari store, these objectives ensure a shopping

experience that meets their needs. In addition to minimizing stockouts and overstocking, customers

can count on consistently available products, which ultimately increases satisfaction and trust in

the store.

Financial Analysts; Often highlight the significance of objectives pertaining to inventory cost

control and management. These goals allow them to evaluate the store's status, pinpoint areas for

expense reduction, and offer financial guidance to the business.

Efficiency Agents; Actively seeking increased accuracy and faster completion of sales and

inventory tasks. They can serve as esteemed examples for successful representatives in any

5
industry and share information and advice on how to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer

service.

If the goals outlined in this research are successfully achieved, proponents of operational

efficiency, business owners, managers, financial analysts, and clients worldwide could experience

significant effects. These effects will not only meet the specific needs of the CVC sari-sari shop

but also bring about a transformation in the retail industry.
