Development of an Attitude Scale to Measure Awareness and Attitudes of Corporate

Employees Towards Postpartum Depression

The scale would be developed to be named as CATPD or the Corporate Attitudes

towards Postpartum Depression. There are few literature concerning the attitudes of
certain groups of people towards those experiencing postpartum depression (PPD), but
there little to no literature found on the attitudes of corporate companies. From the start,
maternity leaves vary in length. However, it may not be sufficient time off to deal with
the postpartum depression. Mothers returning to work may have a hard time and their
colleagues may influence their path towards healing. This test will help measure the
awareness and attitudes of corporate employees towards postpartum depression.

The measuring tool will be used by the human resources professionals for both male
and female employees aged 40-60. The test will be in a Likert scale format and will be
individually conducted. It will be conducted in a conducive environment in their office
and the test-takers would have to shade the circle to mark their answers. Responses of the
test-takers will address the issues of the lack of awareness and right conduct of corporate
employees towards mothers experiencing postpartum depression returning from their
maternity leave. This will benefit primarily the mothers with PPD returning in the
corporate setting. Another benefit would be to the company as this could be added to
their corporate social responsibility initiatives. Lastly, it might also be a gateway towards
education of employees towards mental health.

Development of a Scale to Measure Attitude of Filipino Parents towards Moving out or

separating of their children as they walk the path of Independence.

The test will be named as That-KId-Gone Test, this test will measure the reaction of
parents towards the thoughts and process of moving out of their children. With this, we will
know whether or not parents have a negative or positive connotation towards their beloved
children actually leaving their nest. This test will be applicable to Filipino parents ages 30 and
above. This will benefit prior studies and knowing if we Filipinos are still clinging to the sense of
interdependent self-construal despite the new age’s inevitable forthcoming.
Other than that, this will also help identify parents who might have a brewing
developmental crisis (from Erikson’s psychosocial) and hopefully confirm if the moving out of
the child is the factor of his/her developmental crisis thus a sense of early intervention will be
planned to avoid prior thoughts of suicide, feeling of worthlessness and despair at the same time
making them understand that this part of life will always come no matter what. It contains
questions answerable by a 5 point Likert scale and multiple-choice questions. It will be
administered by professionals in the mental health welfare career.

Development of An Attitude Scale towards Traffic Apprehension Situations

The name of the measuring tool would be the Responsible Road Response Test (Triple R
Test). This test is intended and specialized for the use of traffic management offices such as
LTO, MMDA, MTPB, and other local provincial authorities regulating the roads. It will be
utilized in situations that will require the assessment of the employability of applicants for job
positions in road and traffic management. If the development of this scale is successful, this can
be administered together with traffic rules and regulations knowledge tests either before the
training workshop to know the worthiness of each applicant for the training or if given after the
said activity, this will help assess the effectivity of the program in developing the enforcers’
attitude on the road. Hopefully, through this scale, there will be improvements in road situations
where there is contact between drivers, riders, and the traffic constables to lessen lengthy
conversations resulting in bribery, unnecessary altercations, and possible road rage/violence.

The Triple R Test will be administered to would-be traffic enforcers/constables through

paper and pen, inside rooms similar to that of the holding area of LTO or any available location
that is enclosed, quiet, and wide enough to give space to a number of test-takers. The test
includes demographic questions for documentation purposes. In the test proper, it will include
different item types such as Likert, Guttman, and Paired Comparison. Format for this attitude
scale is preferred to be shorter and comprehensive, rendering only the necessary questions that
imply situations that are most likely and commonly to happen in their job. Examples are
circumstances when a driver or rider shouting at the person, a driver suggesting to pay a bribe
rather than get a ticket, or a driver threatening to harm physically, among others. When this scale
is used, it is preferred that the test users having the knowledge in assessments collaborate with
traffic law and conduct authorities or experts generally in administering, and also in interpreting
results that are to be used in determining the applicant’s qualification for the work.
