RNs and APRNs have an opportunity in existing policy review in different ways. They

can participate by joining professional organizations such as the Emergency Nurses Association,

American Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Nursing will give room for

participating in reviewing specific policies(Woo et al.,2017). These organizations are composed

of professionals in different fields, thus being in a better place to review any implemented policy.

They ensure these policies favor nurses, especially when the policy is at the review process. The

second opportunity is becoming a member of the nurses association in your state. As a member,

one can move to the level of the Board of Directors. In-state states such as Colorado, directors’

positions have annual advertisements, with every position taking two years and the president

serving for three years. Directors’ partners with government, professional bodies, and Public

Policy Committee to help in review these implemented policies.

However, these opportunities have challenges too. In most cases, nurses do not know

about these policies that need to be reviewed. Therefore it calls for the need to review some of

these policies and other trending policies at the review process or policies awaiting

implementation. These should ensure they face the Patient based-orient care (Carvajal et al.,

2019). Another challenge is one the conflict among nurses over the proposed policies within the

workplaces mainly contributed by poor leadership or disunity among nurses at the healthcare and

national levels.

Thus, the best solution to these challenges includes ensuring the best communication on

these challenges to ensure leaders experience the best training and leadership roles. Ensuring

nurses have the best training will help in having the best understanding of the roles and trending

policies that require the best experience. Pillai, Manister, Coppolo, Ducey, & McManus-Penzero

communities. It is essential to ensure good leadership in the organization that makes every

person effectively oriented to their roles. These will help people in these roles, including those

working as Board of Directors, feel motivated even though there is more time need for these

roles.
