1. General
The information, recommendations and data contained are intended to be used only by skilled
and competent personnel at their sole risk and ability to judge. In case there are any questions
with regard to the correct usage of the product and its applications please contact SISTECOIN,
Sistemas Técnicos Contra Incendios S.L.U.
Local laws and national regulations have to be considered with all work and handling especially
with regard to appropriate standards and existing pressure regulations.
We reserve our rights for modifications and amendments without prior notice.
Caution:
In case a different extinguishing agent is used it has to be adjusted and coordinated with
SISTECOIN. In general the customer/system`s manufacturer has to carefully check if the
specific materials are compatible with the extinguishing agent used. In case any corrosive
extinguishing agent is used compatibility and suitability have to be checked in advance by the
customer/system`s manufacturer. All limits and especially pressures and temperatures must
comply with this instruction. Otherwise SISTECOIN cannot accept any liability and
responsibility. Damages caused by an excessive filling pressure are excluded of any liability.
Never open the ball valve (isolate valve for SISTECOIN detecting tube, unless the
cylinder is secured and fixed, the suppression system is installed and the SISTECOIN
detecting tube is installed and has been connected to the cylinder valve. An
unintended opening of ball valve will release the system and could cause risk of
injury and damage!
Do not turn the lever unless the cylinder is secured and fixed, the extinguishing system is
installed, the SISTECOIN detecting tube has been installed and connected to the cylinder valve.
For this the safety screw has to be loosened. The lever of the ball valve has to be turned 90°
into its position “open” (there is a noticeable stop). In this position the SISTECOIN detecting
tube is pressurized in a controlled manner. A pressure regulator integrated into the cylinder
valve reduces the high cylinder pressure towards the 18bar pressure needed for the detecting
tube. Now the SISTECOIN - small fire- extinguishing system is operational.
-To shutdown the extinguishing system the safety screw hast o be loosened and the
lever has to be turned 90° to position „closed“. The extinguishing system is out of operation.
-Before any initial operation and subsequent repeated inspection and maintenance the
operator is obliged to compare and check materials, pressures, temperatures to be in
conformity with this instruction.
-Never assume any cylinders to be empty. Treat all the cylinders as if they are fully
charged.
-Local laws and regulations have to be followed especially with regard to pressure
equipment directives.
-An exact and correct adjustment of the cylinder valve for proper function has to be
taken into consideration.
-The construction and correct design of the automatic suppression system using
SISTECOIN components are exclusively under responsibility and liability of the
customer/system`s manufacturer and installer. To make an appropriate system´s design the
used extinguishing agents as well as the hazard and risk areas have to be considered, also the
related fire risks, limits and ignition sources.
Attention:
The delivery status of the valves is in accordance to the drawings which are valid at
the time of the valve´s production and is conform to the EG type examination.
Every modification at the valve, such as mounting or dismounting of non-conformal
components results in an expiration of the TPED certification. These modified valves
must not be transported in road traffic.
4. Intended application
SISTECOIN valves as per product FDT are pressurized accessories for use in automatic fire
suppression systems which can be used as pressure equipment defined by the TPED
(Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive).
Cylinders fitted with quick-release valves according to the present ATR D 2/11
(Anerkanntes Technisches Regelwerk = recognized technical code) shall not be carried by air.
SISTECOIN valves of our product FDT are used in fire suppression systems which are equipped
with a linear pneumatic heat and flame sensor tubing known as SISTECOIN detecting tube.
It is of paramount importance that only SISTECOIN detecting tubes are commissioned with
SISTECOIN valves and components.
An overview of the complete product range is available from SISTECOIN. KG and under
www.sistecoin.com
Basically, the sensor tube should be installed in the area of risk such, that it should be
activated always before the adjacent components fail. When using particularly thin or
inflammable materials for the delimitation of objects, where necessary, the effectiveness of
the sensor tube has to be proved by a test.
From this it follows that the fire spread beyond the protected object depends substantially on
the conception of the object protection concept, and not on the activating temperature of the
sensor tube. The activating of the sensor tube has to occur always prior to the possibility of the
fire
spread beyond the limits of the object. In this case object protection is defined as following:
fire risks of particular objects have to be handled so that the fire spread to other adjacent
objects or the whole room or the whole building should be prevented. Usually, especially in
small and closed objects, the activating conditions of fire and temperature development are
met very quickly, thus the damage of the object should not be expected. The impact of a
possible fire depends of course on the materials in/on the object and should be evaluated on
an individual basis. A number of criteria and requirements for the sensor tube result from the
mode of operation and the construction of the SISTECOIN valves as well as from the required
material characteristics. In order to avoid loss of extinguishing agent the gas permeability of
the tube must be very low, for the long term use in stationary extinguishing installations it has
to be taken into consideration. Additionally a low flowability (high pressure stability) of the
material is essential since the firm fitting of the tube has to be guaranteed for a long term.
However, regarding the installation and the laying the tube should remain flexible. Another
requirement is a wide-ranging chemical resistance in order to guarantee the use in the most
diverse areas of risk.
Following this criteria it is obvious that the use of standard plastic tubes is not possible since
this tubes do not have the required characteristics.
-The use of a random tube which is not designed for the use as sensor in the fire
protection area endangers the functioning of an extinguishing installation more than anything
and can cause disastrous outcomes in case of fire.
-The FIRELINE sensor tube has been designed especially for the use as fire detectorand
combines optimally all required criteria together!

7.Recommendations for the design of the system limits with SISTECOIN
products
This document provides skilled specialists and specialist companies a guideline for the design,
installation, maintenance and commissioning of SISTECOIN systems. All potential danger
caused by triggering a system and the discharge of extinguishing agents should be considered
during the design of the installation!
For the optimal design of a small extinguishing installation based on the SISTECOIN technology
the system manufacturer should be aware of and understand the correlation between the
technical data of the system components and their interaction,
-the occurring physical circumstances during the extinction as well as during the operating
periods
-Consider the max. tube length in order to keep leakages due to permeation effects as small as
possible.
- Consider the max. tube length in order to discharge the extinguishing agent effectively due to
the physical frictional conditions in the sensor tube.
- Consider the existing ambient temperature and the related pressure changes in the system.
-Consider the necessary pressured gas volume for the safe and complete discharging of the
extinguishing agent.
- Selection of adequate extinguishing agents considering the compatibility with the system
components in use.
8. Recommendations for the installation sensor tube FIRELINE
-Recommended minimum bending radius of sensor tube 100mm
-Ensure that the sensor tube has been cut off cleanly and perpendicularly.
max. deviation = 5°
If necessary, the cylinders and the valve components shall be equipped with a pressure release
disposition, according to the respective national standard.
The frequency and extensiveness of these checks depend on the type of the small
extinguishing installation, the national requirements, the environmental conditions etc. Due to
the variety of the different installation designs SISTECOIN cannot define universally valid
control and maintenance measures. The definition of adequate control and maintenance
measures shall be done by the system manufacturer.
The cylinders used in these installations shall comply to the requirements of the respective
national standards.
SISTECOIN sensor tubes shall be checked for damages in regular intervals, however, at least
once a year. If during the visual check damages are identified the sensor tube has to be
replaced completely.
All persons who maybe have to inspect, to check, to maintain or to operate the extinguishing
installation are required to be instructed for the functions assigned at the respective newest
technological level.
External check of the pipework in order to determine their condition; pipework with evidence
of corrosion or mechanical damages shall be replaced or a pressure test executed and if
necessary to be repaired;
-External check of all extinguishing agent tubes of the installation for evidence of damage or
inadmissible modifications;
-Verification of the pressure measuring instruments of the cylinders for the extinguishing
agent; all cylinders with a high filling loss shall be replaced or refilled;
- Weight control of the cylinders with pressurized liquefied gases, e.g. CO2
-According to the legal requirements or if necessary the cylinders shall be removed and a
pressure test executed.
