BRTA to amend law for registration of electric vehicles

The government has taken the move to formulate the EV policy for importing, manufacturing, and
management of electric vehicles, known as e-vehicles. But the policy failed to address necessary areas in
line with the global trends.

Globally, e-vehicles are still at the trial stage and the standard process is also going on. Hybrid vehicles
have both fuel and battery options for operation but transport importers said no kilowatt measurement is
necessary to assess standards in such kinds of vehicles.

China, Singapore, and other developed countries have started producing e-vehicles as transport
manufacturing would go for fully electronic for energy efficiency and the environment.

Transport importers, however, criticized the move taken by BRTA, saying that it would encourage a certain
quarter to promote illegal human haulers rather than solving transportation problems in rural areas.

Why the move on electric vehicles was taken when the transport sector is grappling with multiple problems,
they questioned.

Mohammad Abdul Hamid Sharif, former president of BARVIDA and vice chairman of Road Safety
Foundation, told the FE that the country needs various important policies to bring disciplines on roads and
set standards for the transport sector.

Without focusing on those issues, he said, the government has taken a move that is not desirable.
“Electricity-run vehicles are environmentally friendly. So we want to expand the use of such vehicles. they
sent the draft, titled “Electric Vehicle Registration and Operation Guidelines-2021”, to the road transport
and bridges ministry on January 25 operating in the country now, around 10 lakh battery-run easy-bikes
are plying the streets, said people involved in the transport sector.

The Road Transport and Highways Division had taken the initiative to formulate the guidelines after
receiving applications from some individuals for registration of electric cars, an official of the division said,
wishing anonymity.

On April 30, the division wrote to the BRTA to take necessary measures for preparing the guidelines to
allow registration of such vehicles, he added.

Following the directives, the BRTA formed a committee, comprising its officials and experts from the
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), to formulate the guidelines. The committee
finalized the draft after holding several meetings

Proposal for a Joint Venture
Dear Methew Jay Yang,

I have considerable experience and expertise in serving Transport customers, automobile maintenance
marketing, and workshop. Throughout my career, I've developed my leadership skills and my ability to
identify the most pressing needs of a business, so that I can support an international EV company. I'm
excited to have the opportunity to meet EV and its objectives.

In the course of my former position, I was responsible for leading a multi-level transport task force. My
team improved from 10 to 137 members. My other duties consisted of developing strong customer service
with my sincere execution of a high-performance-based culture.

I am a driven, focused individual, always searching for ways to create and add value to the company,
including the development of new strategies for my customer service. I have a successful track record of
working in high-pressure environments.

Our family was called one family out of 22 families in Bangladesh in 1961. My grandfather’s name is Chinu
Miah. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, was our Family Friend. Honorable
Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina is also personally known to our Family.

I have 120 acres of land on Manikgonj Highway which is available for a big transport hanger or any relevant
space.

I offer my company for a Joint Venture with the original Manufacturer of Electric Vehicle
Manufacturer of number one Chinese Automobile company.

Thank you very much for reviewing. I welcome the opportunity to continue to improve my interpersonal
skills in my career. I look forward to applying my skills in a new context.
