TIPS FOR INCOMING COLLEGE STUDENTS

1. SIT ON THE FRONT ROW.

This will make you more engaged while the professor/instructor is having a discussion. One thing about catching up lessons
easily is being serious on listening to the prof and then absorbing the knowledge on the spot. Reviewing later is good but
having understood the lessons while at class meetings would make it better.

2. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PROF KNOWS YOU.

It would be an advantage if your prof knows you. Do your part on how you can do this. Show your good manners and greet
your prof when you happen to meet at hallways.

3. ASK FOR COURSE OUTLINE AHEAD OF TIME.

You will have spare time on college for Library so you better use your time wisely. Course outline per subject includes the
lessons required with the subject. It would be an advantage if you would have an overview with your next meeting’s
lesson. Or if it requires skills practice (such as on major subjects), you may try to enjoy and explore it first with yourself.

4. KNOW YOUR GRADING STRUCTURES.

Note this and analyze how can this be a vantage point. Know what could be you strategy if you happen to lack one thing.

5. TRUST YOURSELF.
You don’t need to compete with everyone. Just focus with your own and trust yourself that you can do your studies well
and finish your degree. In the end, you only have you. And sayang po ang tuition, so mabuti nang walang uulitin.

6. BEWARE OF FAKE FRIENDS.

You don’t know who’s sincere or who’s not. You can survive alone. Making friends is good but know when they are
dragging you down.

7. TAKE COLLEGE SERIOUSLY.

It’s not the same as High School. Once you failed or won’t be able to finish it, there’s a chance that you’re going to
regret it. Again, matrikula. Kahit scholar, think about the time. Your time.

8. LIMIT ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS.

You enter college because you will be studying, hindi hanap jowa. Romantic relationship is fine, as long as it is —legal,
mature and true. Make it as an inspiration if you have one. Know your limitations, though.

9. ENJOY.
Be serious but also, don’t forget to enjoy your college life. Make real friends. Make fun & good memories. One day,
you’ll miss your college life.

10. PRAY.
Don’t forget to pray and be grateful for everything. With every failure and success, pray.
