Introduction

Relevance of the Topic

The decriminalisation of Marijuana in Jamaica has been a hot topic in Jamaican

Media for a while now. There are many who believe that Marijuana is a
dangerous drug and should not be decriminalised whilst others see no harm in its
usage at all. A huge discussion amongst high schools is the trickle-down effect of
Marijuana Decriminalisation on their students. Numerous schools have reported
issues related to Marijuana usage and this has left many questioning whether or
not the decriminalisation of Marijuana has led to an increase in usage amongst
students which could have far reaching, negative effects.
