Topic 1
Dear Tom,
I’m very glad to tell you about a trip that didn’t go as I had planned.
Last year, I took a trip to one of the most beautiful places, with the most beautiful tea
gardens in it, of my country. It was supposed to be a fun and exciting trip, as my tour guide
had told me, but instead, it actually became a boring affair in the end.

Anyway, I had planned for this trip well in advance since I don’t really get much vacation time
from my job. To make the trip really smooth and fun, I even contacted a famous tour
organizing agency of my country who was supposed to manage everything, from booking the
hotel to deciding the food menu, on my behalf. For all these arrangements, of course, I had to
pay some good amount of money to the touring agency, but I didn’t really mind it much since
they assured me of a fun and exciting trip.

Now, everything was alright with my trip up and until reaching our destination. After all, the
bus, which took us to the destination, was nice and comfortable, but things started to become
a bit messy and unpleasant as soon as I arrived at my hotel. In fact, the hotel, chosen for our
stay, was spreading foul smell. To make things a bit more complicated for me, the hotel
manager told me that I would need to share my room with another guest (a person who was
touring with me also to visit the tea gardens), apparently because the hotel didn’t have
enough rooms for all the guests. However, the worst part of the tour was that my visiting
period to the tea garden was cut short due to the forecast of some bad weather.
The trip indeed wasn’t up to my expectation since the touring company didn’t collect enough
necessary information from its partners (i.e. hotel) to ensure an enjoyable experience for its
customers. Besides, the touring agency didn’t have any contingency planning either to deal
with bad weather. All in all, this was not what I was expecting from my trip after spending so
much money.

See you soon.

Love,

Hi Marry!

How are you? I always use bicycle whenever I need to go somewhere. It’s cheap,
convenient, safety, fun, happiness, fitness and save money. The real appeal of cycling is that
it is so enjoyable. It has none of the difficulties and tensions of other ways of traveling so
you are more cheerful after a ride, even though the rush hour. What about you? Can you
describe a common transportation system in your country? What kind of transport it is?
What types of people use this transport? How convenient it is? And explain whether you like
it or not.

I hope you are cheerful. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Topic 2
Dear Daisy,

I’m very happy to tell you about a common transportation system in my country
Public Bus is a very common transportation system in our country and the
majority of the commuters in cities and urban areas use this transportation
system. There are two types of public bus systems in our country- short
distance buses and long-distance buses. There are many governments
owned bus service system which is available mostly in the metropolitan
system. There are varieties of sizes in these buses ranging from 10 seats
to as many as 100 seats and even double-decker buses as well.

People from all classes and economic conditions use these buses and who
do not own private cars, most of the times use this transportation system.
Since there are cheap and expensive buses based on the facilities allowed,
people with low earnings mostly use non-AC, small buses. While people
with better economic conditions use air-conditioned and a bit expensive
service.

This is the most convenient transportation system in our country in terms

of expenses and availability. Hiring a taxi or private cars cost a lot and
they are not always available. So people mostly depend on the public bus
transportation system which offers a very low fare and are always
available for almost all of the destinations.

I mostly use this bus transportation system for short and long-distance
travels and communications and I find it very handy. Though there are
some disadvantages of this transportation system, I would say still this is
the best way for commuters to move to different places in my city.

See you soon.

Topic 3
Dear Mary,
I’d like to tell you about a tourist attraction I once visited.
One of the most interesting places I have ever come to was Hoi An ancient
town. Located in Quang Nam, a central region of Vietnam. This place
attracts hordes of tourists every year to come and enjoy the wonderful time in
Hoi An.

I went to Hoi An about 5 years ago when I graduated from university. At that
time, I never thought I could have a wonderful experience in here. Hoi An is
really a holiday destination for everyone who love the breathtaking view and
the atmosphere. Every house in Hoi An left me with some memories about the
past and also reminded everyone how prosperous the town had.

I visited Hoi An ancient town because I was craving for sampling the local

food in here. The cuisine of central region was so different from other
regions. Although I and my buddies had initially planned on which places to visit,
I always ended up going off the beaten track there were too many interesting
places to explore. The weather was also a factor which made me love this place
much. I believed the cool weather of Hoi An would dispel the heat of
summer in southern area.

I really enjoyed my time in Hoi An ancient town. It was a one-of-a-kind

experience, and if I have enough money, I will gladly have another trip back to
this town.
See you soon.

because they have amazing food and wonderful service. There are about 20 tables with
flowers and romantic view. They have a lot of chicken dishes, an especially wonderful range of
barbeque. And their fish are the best ones I have ever eaten. Their soups and salads give me
the perfect taste, complete with cheese and olives. Their desserts are so yummy. Let’s take
their Tiramisu. It is perfect. What is your favourite restaurant? Tell me about it?

Topic 4

Dear Linda,

I’d like to tell you about my favorite restaurant

Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to talk about my favourite
restaurant. The name of my favourite restaurant is Diner’s Paradise and it is
located in the downtown of the city I live in. I like it because it offers a nice
environment and delicious foodThe restaurant has three floors and the sitting
arrangement is extraordinary which does not compromise privacy, unlike many
other restaurants. Paintings of famous artists hang on the wall and the place is
clean. The interior decoration is simply gorgeous. It also has a large playground
for children. Finally, the front view of the restaurant is unique as it gives the aura
of a green and lavish garden.

The restaurant offers several dishes including continental menus, Italian, Thai,
Indian, Pakistani and local menus on top of the delightful exotic desserts. Not to
mention, the prices are reasonable and the food is served reasonably quickly,
contrary to some other eateries where you have to wait for a long for your food to
be served. Besides, the attendants and other staff members are friendly and they
treat the guests cordially. The restaurant offers a wide range of dishes to pick
from and no additional service charge is imposed on the final bill. The soft
background music and instrumentals make the environment more enjoyable and
soothing. As I have said, tables are not congested and people can enjoy their
personal conversations and enjoy sports on large TVs. The large glass-made
windows offer the city view which makes the place worth visiting. It’s a good thing
that the authority invites customer feedback and comments on food, service and
dining experience and they take prompt actions against customer complaints.

I would say, this is a really nice restaurant to go to and enjoy the tasty food and I
like it very much.
See you soon.

 Topic 5
Dear Katie,
I’d like to tell you about my eating diet and the way of living

 We’ve all been told that healthy eating can transform your life and help you
live a longer and more active one .I try to eat clean and eat green everyday because
highly-processed foods or low-quality foods are linked to obesity and an increased risk of
heart disease, and in some cases, cancer. So it’s vital for me and for everyone to stay healthy by
eating clean in order to not only manage your weight but also help you build a stronger
immune system and increase your energy levels. Here are some helpful tips and ideas
that will soon have you well on the way to bursting with health and vitality: Get
more fruits and veggies in your day. Eat less saturated and trans fats. Eat less
salt. Make a conscious effort to put less and less salt on your food, until just a
dash is all you need. Eat less sugar. Try substituting honey in your coffee and
opt for less sugary desserts.Drink more water and aim for drinking half your
body weight in ounces. This will not only help you eat healthier, but it will also
save you money.

As I’m aware of the importance of leading a healthy life and staying active, I try to do some
swimming on a weekly basis, usually on the weekend or whenever I’m in a gloomy mood. I usually
go to a sports centre near my house to go swimming.Swimming has become an integralpart of my
life since I was at high school because of its great benefits. The first thing is that it helps me get
into shape and build endurance because it provides an all-over body workout. You know, all of
my muscles are used during swimming. Besides, whenever I’m deep into water, I feel refreshed. I
mean all daily stress and hardness are set aside. So, swimming kinda does not only help me
enhance my physical strength, but it also improves my mental health.

See you soon.

Dear Jessica,
I’d like to tell you about one of my favorite meals

The most special meal I’ve ever had in my life was on my Dad’s birthday last year, which
was prepared by all of my family members.
The idea was put forward by my sister. We planned to surprise him and by
preparing his favourite foods. On that day, my Mom cooked Pho, a Vietnamese
beef noodles, while I baked a birthday cake for him. My siblings were in charge
of decoration and music. Everything had been done perfectly a little bit earlier
before he came home. When he opened the door, he was astonished on
seeing a colourful “Happy birthday Daddy” banner stuck on the wall in the living
room. Standing in front, my Mom gave him a bouquet of red roses, his favourite
flowers. We enjoyed the scrumptious meal and shared our best memories with
my Dad.
After washing the dishes, we gathered in the living room. My Dad made a
wish and blew candles. He was in tears and told that he was over the
moon and he was proud of us, his home and his family. We gave each other
huge hugs before going to sleep.

I’d like to tell you about one of my favorite meals

Well, my family usually enjoys our dinner at home with simple and traditional dishes, but
there was an occasion we had a very special meal together in a fancy restaurant.

It was around 3 years ago when I was tied up in revision for my final examination. After
that high-pressure time, I passed the exam with flying colors so my dad decided to ease
my mind by taking the whole family to a Western restaurant for enjoying a cozy meal
together.

That dinner was a little unusual to my family because we had never eaten in such a
luxurious restaurant, so my mother and I were very surprised at that time.

This French restaurant is located in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. Because it is situated in
a well-trodden area, this restaurant welcomes hundreds of guests every night. The food
here, therefore, wasn’t very budget-friendly. Actually, it cost my family an arm and a leg,
which made this dinner even more special to me. Even though my dad is not the kind of
person who makes a killing, he was still willing to take my mom and me to such a
restaurant as a reward for my hard work. So I really appreciated him for that.

I really enjoyed this dinner because it really helped me to relieve everyday stress and chill
out after long hard-working days. Besides, this unusual meal was also a very good chance
for us to strengthen our family bond because we all have been so busy for a long time.

In the future I will try to earn a lot of money to take my family to wonderful places like this
to try different cuisines and outstanding dishes, like lobster, abalone and salmon.

See you soon.

I’d like to tell you about my new job
Dear Jane,

I hope you and your family are doing fine, and I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch recently. I’m
writing to let you know that I have resigned from my previous company and took a new job
recently.

Do you remember that I was working for a consultancy firm and I told you how much I was
looking forward to changing my job? Well, I have joined a travel agency two months ago and
the new job is exciting. In my previous job, I was working really long hours and, to be honest,
the pay wasn’t great. So basically I applied for a job at a new company that was looking for
people enthusiastic about taking challenges and are interested to travel. I thought it is a good
fit for my expectation and took the opportunity.

I was a bit nervous in the interview, but in the end, I got the job as a senior travel consultant.
The remuneration in the new job is better, the working conditions are great and I don’t have
to work long hours anymore. Besides, they offer performance bonuses and I would be able to
travel to different places and explore many places!

I have also enrolled in a tour guide course and started a new travel blog. My parents have
come to meet me two days ago and I have plans to take them to show them around.

Emma

I’d like to talk about a new English course that I attended one month ago
I get information about the course from some of my friends, they have just finished the course

earned from the part time job as a tutor .The people in my class are very nice and they always help
each other. It’s a friendly environment and I’ve got a lot of new friends there.

I choose this English course because of the following reasons. As you know English is an
international language in the world. Most people are using this language on
the daily life. And learning English is very essential for people because of
many benefits it brings. Firstly, It is an important language because we use
this language to communication with other country's people. We also use
English in many places. For example, it is used in the international business,
computer language, movies, and so on. Secondly, we can communicate with
people all over the world so that we can understand each other very well.
Also,We can understand their cultures . Finally, English give you many chance
to have a good job. There are many foreign companies and domestic
companies which require employee’s English skill. If you can speak English,

Topic 10
Dear Rose,
I’d like to talk about my birthday.
Hi, My birthday is on October 26th. I think the more I grow up, the less important my birthdays become.
What I mean is that I no longer look forward to birthday parties and put on special clothes like I used to
do when I was a little boy.I`m going to talk about my last birthday party.A birthday party is a happy
and attractive occasion in a modern society. It is observed on one’s birthday. It comes once every
year with joy and merriment. I celebrated my last birthday last month when I was 20. I invited my
friends and relatives. It was held at our house. On this occasion, our drawing room was nicely
decorated with flowers and festoons. The house wore a festive look. We ordered a birthday cake.
My father bought a fine new dress for me and my mother was going to give me a pleasant surprise.
The cake arrived in time. Different items of foods were placed on the table. My friends and guests
began to arrive by twos and threes. By 5 o’clock everybody arrived. We all stood around the dining
table. I merrily cut the cake. A round of applause followed. Plates full of delicious food items were
handed over to the guests. We ate them in the midst of merriments, songs, and music. The camera
of my brother was clicking on. He took pictures of rare moments. The presents brought by my
friends and others were given to me. I thanked them all. I enjoyed the day very much. The party was
rounded off with a chorus ‘Happy birthday to you’.And what about the present I ‘d like to receive
on my next birthday.Any, really! Of course I appreciate all gifts, but if I could choose, I would prefer gift
cards or cash. Since I’m a college student, these really help with my living costs and allow me to treat
myself to something nice- like a massage, shopping, or a nice meal. To be honest, I don’t enjoy when
my mother picks out (chooses) clothing for me because I end up (do without wanting or planning)
looking like a grandma!.

Dear Dave,
I’d like to talk about my free time.
When I disagree with my parents about how I spend my free time, I often hang out
with my friends and play sports. I am a very outgoing person, so I love to
meet and have relaxing times with my friends at the weekend.
We usually sit at a coffee shop to chat about our week, or we sometimes
go shopping to buy some foods and then cook them at one of our houses.
Those times are when I feel comfortable to talk about me, and it really
helps me to reduce the pressure from the works of the entire week.

When all of my friends are busy, I choose to go to the park and play some
sports such as badminton and shuttlecock kicking. There are always people
that want to play with me, so I do not need a partner whenever I want to
play a sport.
Besides, I also go to the pool to have some fun under the water, and I am
pretty good at swimming. A week for me is so long, but thinking of the free
and good time to do whatever I like on Saturday and Sunday gives me
more strength and energy to finish it.

Dear Jane,
I’m going to tell you about a club which is really good for me.
Nowadays, people tend to be more health-concious and I am no exception. In order to keep fit, I
have joined a rumba class – a type of dance, which is held three times a week in a gym near my
house.
Unlike the boring time running on the treadmill, I find that dancing is more intriguing. It helps
me speed up my metabolism by burning much more calories in just an hour of intensive
training. In addition, dancing builds up my flexibility as it makes many parts of my body move,
such as my arms, shoulders, abs and legs. By sticking to a schedule of dancing on a regular basis
and a balanced diet as suggested by my private trainer, I have managed to keep a lean body.
Thanks to this, I can reduce the risk of getting chronic diseases, such as diabetes or the ones
related  to our bones.
Besides, dancing is really good for my mental health because it helps me ease the tension after a
stressful day at work. You know, I can step into the class wearing comfort clothes, dancing along
while listening to great music and the most important thing is that I can forget about the deadlines
or competition. All in all, I think this kind of dance is a good remedy for both my physical as well as
mental health. Would you like to join with me? Please let me know as soon as possible.

Dear Tony,
I’d like to talk about my favorite animal’s channel. I am always amazed at all TV
programs featuring wildlife and nature. You can find many amazing episodes on
National Geographic, and Our Planet channels. Even if I’m not an outdoorsy
person, the best nature shows on these channels are really captivating. In fact, I’ve
recently been watching the new Planet Earth series and it has been tremendously
uplifting and inspirational to me. I love finding out how different the lives of animals
can be from one species to the next, and what these animals need to do to survive
in different parts of the world.
“My favourite wild animal is the lion. It’s a mammal, which means the females give birth to cubs,
rather than laying eggs. It’s known for being a ferocious predator. It hunts on smaller animals
like deer or antelopes. Lion is generally yellow or orange in colour. Its distinguishing feature is
the mane, the thick fur around the neck of male lions. This trait is virtually absent in female
ones. You can be expected to find lions at a number of places. For example, in the wild, like
the savanna in Africa. They can also be found in zoos, but those are the tamed kinds. Lions
are carnivores, so they feed primarily on meat.

“Green living”. We want to do something to protect our environment. I know you and your
friends have done the same project very well. Can you suggest what kinds of things we
should change with our lifestyle? Which activities can we do to reduce pollution? And how
will we do to replace plastic bags and what can be recycled?

I hope with your suggestions we can do our best to save our environment.

Dear Laura,
I’d like to talk about how to protect the environment.
I usually hear in the everyday news about pollution, and that makes me have awareness in
protecting and keeping the environment clean. We can help save the Earth by doing small things,
and I am sure that everyone can do that.
There are many things you can do to reduce your impact on the environment. If we all use energy,
transport and other goods and services more carefully, we can reduce harmful emissions to our air,
land and water. Everyday choices have the power to make a difference, and help protect our
environment for a clean and sustainable future. Commute smart by walking or riding to work or the
shops instead of driving. Motor vehicle emissions remain the most significant source of most
common air pollutants.Firstly, choose a fuel-efficient vehicle next time you are replacing your car.
Next, save energy, by turning off the television and make sure you flick the light switch when you
leave the room. Not only will you save money on your electricity bill, you will be reducing
emissions from coal-fired electricity plants. Finally, use environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Here are some ways to reduce the Waste of Plastic Bags:

Firstly, decline the bag. Next, bring your reusable bags instead. And then, recycle the plastic
bags.  Many thrift stores will re-use plastic bags for their merchandise. Some department stores
and grocery stores will also often have a location where you can drop off clean and dry your
plastic bags to be recycled. Finally, re-use the plastic bags yourself. Think of creative ways that
you can use the bags to save you money or time, or be fun!  For instance, plastic bags can be
used as small garbage can liners, going to the pool, or even plastic bag art projects!
. With love,

Emma

Hi John! How are you? Next month I will have a two-week summer holiday in London. I will
go there with my family. I know you stayed in London for 4 years when you were a student at
university. Can you suggest me where I should stay and what kinds of special food should I
taste? Which activities can we enjoy during the holiday? And what presents should I buy as
souvenirs of my holiday? I hope my family and I will have a good time there.

Dear peter,

I love traveling and exploring new places. Today, I’m going to talk about a foreign city I
wish to visit. It’s London, the capital of United Kingdom.
Talking about the time when I’ll go to London, I haven’t yet decided, maybe in summer
this year. I don’t know who I’d take with me but it would probably be some people that are
close to me, I feel that visiting a new place is more fun if you’re with your family.
Coming to the many reasons why I want to visit London, I guess the main reason would be
my fascination with history and art. London is home to world-class museums and art
galleries, all having a different and unique story behind them.
Other than that London also happens to have the oldest underground railway system in
the world. To visit the most popular tourist attractions of London has been on my bucket
list for a long time. These include the London Bridge, National Art Gallery, and the British
Museum. I’ve heard that the bakeries in London are some of the best out there. I’d love to
see what they have to offer.
Moreover, here are some delicious traditional British dishes will make you very
hungry: Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash, Full English Breakfast, Sunday Roast, Toad
in the Hole, Shepherd's Pie/Cottage Pie, Steak and Kidney Pie. Don’t forget to buy
souvenirs in London , there are a various choice such as :Liberty Print Knot Watch,
Sherlock Holmes Pub Sign, Tower Bridge Cufflinks, Commemorative Pillbox, Die Cast
Original Mini Cooper, Images of London Teapot. ...
With love,

Emma
