Hello Professor,a) Choice of method for the proposed study & justification for the same
In the proposed research, I shall adopt “Qualitative method”.
I shall adopt the Qualitative research method as various factors to be reviewed
quantitatively & to
conclude critical elements for talent retention in the particular study for Indian Alumina
Refineries. In Research Question 1 &2, the Qualitative method shall be used- as
Relationship & Impact of various independent variables (Career progression prospects,
Performance Management System, Learning & Development, Work-Life Balance,
Employee Recognition) with the dependent variable (Talent Retention) to be studied and
established by Quantitatively using Statistical tools.

The respondents can freely reveal their experiences, thoughts, and feelings without
restrictions.
 
b) Data collection plan & methodology
In my research, I shall perform a Survey method cross-section of randomly selected
talent pool/ high
performer employees across the various remotely located Alumina refineries of Aditya
Birla Group in
India. Among a limited talent pool / high performer of Hindalco Alumina Refineries, 60-70
members shall be selected randomly from 4 Refineries units, i.e., Renukoot, Doraguda,
Muri, and Belagavi.
A survey shall be intended to gather a numeric description of the trends, opinions, and
attitudes of a
population thru the study of a sample of that selected population. A closed-ended
structured
questionnaire shall be designed, and also some questions will be adopted from past
Vibes employee
surveys performed at Hindalco in the past years. Survey response will consist of 5-point
rating scale. Survey questionnaires will be sent to the sample population by Email &
personal interaction.
The survey Shall consist total of 25-26 questions as follows:
Four questions regarding Age, gender, work experience & demographic location,
Four Question on Talent Retention (Dependent Variables)
Four question to test each hypothesis to evaluated on the relation of 4 Independent
variables.
In the qualitative study of the subject research, I shall explore the underlying reasons,
opinions, motivation & findings by the medium of Personal interviews to a cross-section
of HR leaders and Millennials employees across Hindalco Alumina Refineries in India. I
will use the exploratory technique to explain & find out the relationship and viewpoint on
Talent retention. So, I will use personal interviews and discussions with a set of
guidelines as a primary data collection plan and the review of related research articles
and case studies as a secondary data collection plan. I will record each interview with a
smartphone or take a note with pen & paper. After summarizing each interview, I will
further validate the data by discussing the interviewed persons and, wherever
necessary, modify it. I will extract general and unique themes from all the interviews held
and make a summary.
In the qualitative study of the proposed research, I will explore the causes, opinions,
motivations, and insights through personal interviews with a representative sample of
HR managers and Millennials employees at Hindalco Alumina refineries across India.
After summarizing each interview, I will further validate the data by discussing people
and changing them if necessary. I extract common and unique themes from all
interviews conducted and make a composite summary.
