Further to your email querying whether we have sufficient information to make an informed
judgment on Bricking It’s spec and detail, we write to inform you that irrespective of the debate
regarding design responsibility and the BBA certificated guarantees being offered, we have come
to the conclusion that on the grounds of workmanship we simply cannot approve what we have
seen on site.

We have attended site again today and developed further concerns regarding the vapour control
layer and installation of the insulation.

In Gillian Lacey’s email dated 1 April 2017 (attached) we set out 4 key concerns that we felt
could lead to interstitial condensation, cold bridging and differential movement in the asphalt,
which could in time cause failure of the waterproofing.

We have spent much time this week investigating the drawings, specifications, material
properties and manufacturers recommendations. We have confirmed for ourselves, through
computer modelling of the actual installed roofing products, that interstitial condensation will
occur, even if the vapour control layer Bricking It have installed, was repaired and proved to be
continuous and imperfection free.

We have looked into ways that this could be remedied but we regret to inform you that some
areas of the roof reviewed today are already showing failure and cannot be accepted.

In our opinion, works to the roof works should be halted and steps taken to carry out the works
properly, in accordance with our details.

The design has been changed against our recommendations and irrespective of the
workmanship issue listed above, we are not prepared to take responsibility for a change to the
design.
