Important Reminders

SDS affiliated students are eligible to receive accommodations and auxiliary aids in accordance with federal
mandates.
As Miami University faculty, you are obligated to engage in the interactive accommodation process with SDS and the
student in accordance with current university policy and procedure.
Students are strongly encouraged to initiate a meeting to discuss accommodation plans. However, if you receive a
letter and the student does not contact you, we recommend reaching out to the student. A brief email acknowledging
you received the FNL and encouraging them to meet with you is suggested. Include this email in your class records.
Student disability accommodation information is private and should only be discussed with appropriate university
officials based on educational need to know.
Students may request accommodations at any time during the semester. However, accommodations are not
retroactive and are only required to be provided from the date of formal request.
