WEB
Web is the collection of webpages, websites that is stored in the server which passes on
information to the local computers with the help of internet, it helps us to retrieve documents
from different pages.
The key LAYERS of the internet: -

WWW world wide web was invented by Tim Berners lee which came into existence in the year
1989 March and further got released by the use of hypertext markup language by the year
1990.

The function
www works on the concept of client server approach which have various steps of function
 1. The user must enter URL of the webpage on the address bar of the web browser
2. The web browser than place the req to the domain server for the address that
correspond to the URL type
3. Once the id address matches the browser request the webpage to communicate with
the server to using the HTTP protocol
4. Once the request has been made the web server will search for the related data
and delivers it that to the web browser if found else error message is displayed
5. The web browser than interprets for the server and replace the content of the page in
the browser window

What is an interface?

It is a collection of documents stores on the web server
Collection linked webpages on a server is known as website
Every webpage has a unique URL
The webpage is divided into 2 parts:
1. Static – Its page where the content of the page will remain the same until someone
tries to change it manually this page is loaded with html and CSS, the design and
content remain the same when even user visits the page. It is very easy to develop static
page because the page design is unique flexible and don’t use databases.
2. Dynamic-it keep changing at runtime for the users’ preferences to have dynamic
content, database use with query. These webpages run on the server application which
displays the content with interactive feature.
HTTP- Hyper Text Transfer protocol
It is applicable to in the application layer of the network protocol this enables WWW to
work smoothly on the client server module, the web browser in which we write code
connects to web server will communicate with
application layer protocol and retrieve the contents

Search engine and portal

Search engines help us to retrieve information within desired period of time with a specific
keyword search engine tries to match and retrieve the pages e.g.- google, yahoo, duckduckgo and
aol.
Portal- it is a private location through which information is shared on the WWW through
unique username and password and a unique URL. It acts as a point of access to retrieve the
information. eg:- FB, Gmail, Twitter, quora,
Evolution of web
In the early 80s by tim berley under the CERN laboratory, this concept was created to
automize the information sharing between scientists all around the world, the basic idea
of WWW is to merge all the evolving in technologies for a global information system, so
that exchange of information take place. In the beginning of 90s the search engine was
not as effective as today, to solve the problem updates have been made on the algorithm
of searching to improve the efficiency in displaying the filtered data ever since 20 th
century improvement has taken place
