CLASSIFIED LETTERS

Marked “Top Secret” or “Secret” or “Confidential” or “Restricted”.

Important documents concerning aspects, policy which must not be known outside a
very limited circle of highly placed officials, information which if known to a potential
enemy, would jeopardize the security of Pakistan / WAPDA shall be handled by the
Private Secretaries of the Authority and personally by the GM / CE and Head of
Divisions, in accordance with the instructions contained in the booklet “Security of
Classified Matters in the Government Departments”. A separate register will be
maintained to record all such letters that is equally important.

SECURITY CLASSIFICATION

For all classified categories the security classification is written at the top center and
bottom center of all pages. Security instructions shall be strictly adhered to. All
documents which are of secret and confidential nature shall be properly classified
and treated, in accordance with the instruction in the booklet “Security of Classified
Matters in the Government Departments”.

SECURITY

Office security is the responsible of the branch concerned. Office security orders to
be included in standing orders should cover the following points:-

a. Arrangement for the handling and custody to top secret, secret and confidential
correspondence and of the boxes in which they kept.

b. Arrangements for checking that no papers have been left behind after a move.

c. Arrangements for the destruction of all waste paper and carbons.

d. Arrangements for checking the identity of visitors.

e. Arrangements for the custody of office keys.

f. Arrangements for security of the offices after working hours.
