people together from different communities and social backgrounds. Working with ACTES, The Other Perspective and Hemlington Linx, the Green Shoots Project is aimed at people from BAME backgrounds, refugees, asylum seekers and young people to help develop awareness of the town’s green spaces, connectivity with nature and understanding of the issues affecting our climate, wildlife, and the habitats they depend on.
The project aims to bring together people who are interested in
building their own practical skills and knowledge based around conservation and wildlife habitats. Preserving natural habitats is critical to maintain the biodiversity of the planet and the behaviour of citizens is an integral part of maintaining harmony
We need a long term strategy to include the following:
1. how do we educate and gain their interest on the endangered
Water Vole which happens to live in Middlebeck, which many of the residents mistakenly identify as a rat? 2. How do we bridge the gap of knowledge of local residents and the natural habitats that exist around them? Many people are unaware of the native flora and fauna all around them - how do we inspire interest and provide them with this knowledge.
