Medical Records Case Study

1. It states that US health care industry is the world’s most inefficient information enterprise
because it is still paper based and 18% GDP is going for that. Moreover, being able to keep
patient record and accessing to information has become a problem as well.

2. It is likely to be time consuming and costly to train the doctors to properly utilize the system.
Systems are poorly designed, different companies have different systems so it may not match and
the data may not go to one system. Therefore, chances of information getting mixed-up and
difficulties in getting the information which the company is looking for may be minimized.

3. If they don’t digitize medical records they would be highlighted and left out as most of other
companies would have digitize by time. There are fines that will be enforced by the government
in the future.

4. There can be various benefits of implementing digitized medical recordkeeping. Such as, ease of
access to data which can save time. Easy access to accurate data and improves customer
experience.

5. Yes. EMR can bring solutions to the rising problems. It can cut down cost in so many ways such
as by giving easy access to track statistics over the history of any patient. It can support with
decrease of paper use and other supply expenditures. Implementing EMR seems to be a more
efficient and productive approach.
