M-Audio Ozonic Controller Templates

Using a hardware controller with Stylus RMX gives you maximum control
over your groove production. You can edit, re-mix, and manipulate RMX
grooves instantly in real time. It’s powerful, fun, and musically rewarding!

There are two main steps to perform in order to get started; loading the data
for the M-Audio Ozonic, and selecting the template in Stylus RMX.

The Ozonic features a great collection of faders, knobs, and buttons. The
templates we have provided take full advantage of those features – every
control is used.
STEP 1 – SET UP THE OZONIC

Make sure you have installed the hardware and software for the Ozonic
according to M-Audio’s documentation.

The Ozonic holds twenty controller Presets. Ozonic Presets are stored in a
Preset Bank file (.xml extension).

We have provided a Preset Bank file that duplicates the M-Audio factory
Presets in the first nineteen slots, and has the Stylus RMX Preset in the
twentieth slot.

TRANSMITTING A PRESET BANK TO THE OZONIC

IMPORTANT - This procedure will overwrite the contents of the

Ozonic memory.

Once you have successfully transferred the Preset Bank, you will
need to recall Preset B10.

1. Launch Enigma, the Ozonic Editor/Librarian.

2. From the File menu, select “Import Preset Bank…”.

3. Select the Preset Bank you wish to use.

(For example, RMX_Ozonic Preset Bank.xml). It is located inside

the M-Audio Ozonic directory within the MIDI Learn directory.

…/SAGE/Stylus RMX/Patches/MIDI Learn/Ozonic/RMX_Ozonic Preset Bank.xml

4. Click “Open”.
The Editor/Librarian now shows the following:

5. Click on the Update button to send the data to the Ozonic. After a few
seconds, the data transmission is complete.

On the Ozonic, recall preset B10.

(See M-Audio’s Editor librarian documentation for more information on

how to recall presets).
STEP 2 – SET UP STYLUS RMX

Make sure you have Stylus RMX version 1.5 or above installed.

SELECT THE CONTROLLER TEMPLATE IN RMX

From the Stylus RMX Utility menu (the button denoted with a Floppy icon),
select MIDI Learn / Load Template.

Select the template Ozonic Part.ctl_rmx

You are ready to control Stylus RMX from the Ozonic.

USING RMX AND THE M-AUDIO OZONIC

We have provided two controller templates for RMX. It’s important to

understand the difference between them.

Ozonic Part.ctl_rmx is designed to work on a single part, one part at a

time. The controls are assigned to several useful parameters.

Ozonic Chaos.ctl_rmx also works on a single part, but is designed for

controlling several Chaos parameters simultaneously.

The part you control is determined by the host track/MIDI channel.

Be sure that your host application is sending MIDI to RMX; then load grooves
into all 8 parts.

The table at the end of this document shows how the M-Audio Ozonic
hardware controls are mapped to Stylus RMX. Have fun exploring the
amazing features of Stylus RMX from your hardware controller!

Note for Digidesign Users:

Users report a problem where the Ozonic is correctly recognized by the

computer as an audio interface, but not recognized as a midi interface.

The problem reportedly appears when DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin is in the

same directory as the M-Audio MAudioFireWireMIDI.plugin file.

Contact M-Audio technical support if you experience this problem.

CREATE AND SHARE YOUR OWN TEMPLATES

The templates we have provided are only the beginning of what you can do
with your hardware controller and Stylus RMX. We’ve provided a blank table
for you to document your own Controller Template creations. You will find it
in the User Template Tools folder, which is located inside the MIDI Learn
directory on your hard drive.

We encourage you to create your own templates, and then share them at the
Yahoo Spectrasonics User Group:

Enjoy using Stylus RMX with your M-Audio Ozonic.

Best regards,

The Spectrasonics Team
