We are writing to give you advance notification of some exciting news. As

part of Rapid7’s mission to bring safety and resilience to as many people as
possible and increase access to effective security technology and practices,
on Wednesday 20th October, Rapid7 will launch a free tool for our
customers on the Insight Platform. 

Project Doppler is a free and simple tool that lets organisations of any
size quickly and easily gain insights into their external attack surface. 

We have been hearing from customers that the increasing complexity of

their corporate IT environments, along with the rise of shadow IT, makes it
hard for organisations to keep up with, and manage their external
exposures. Yet, left unchecked, externally-accessible assets can significantly
increase an organisations potential attack surface, exposing them to
greater cyber risk. 

Project Doppler addresses this by providing a light-weight external

perspective on an organisations exposure and possible risks. The easy-to-
use interface reveals hard-to-discover exposures — those related to third-
party services, shadow IT implementations, misconfigurations, and
exploitation of systems — and offers tips for addressing them.  

Project Doppler’s data is sourced from Rapid7’s Project Sonar, which scans
the internet to identify exposures, and Project Heisenberg, a globally-
distributed honeypot network that monitors for potentially malicious
inbound connections.
