My name is Ali. I’m from Dubai. I’m 37 years old. I am married to Razir.
We have 2 children. They are both boys. My son’s names are Abdul and Hamid.
Abdul is 11 and Hamid is 9 years old. They go to an international school in Dubai.
I am a businessman. I buy and sell computers to offices and schools. I usually
work in Dubai. But sometimes I travel to America or Europe.

Dubai is a very modern city with tall buildings and big shopping malls. There are
many beautiful parks and sandy beaches with blue sea. The weather is very hot in
Dubai. The temperature in the summer can be 40℃ in the daytime. January and
February are the coldest months. Sometimes the daytime temperature is only
21℃. It only rains about 30 days in one year, and sometimes it doesn’t rain for 5
months.

Many people go to Dubai for a holiday. They usually go in April or December

because the weather is not too hot.
The people who live in Dubai speak Arabic, but many people also speak English.
People don’t usually go out in the daytime because the temperature is too high.
They go to restaurants and coffee shops about 8pm in the evening and eat and
drink with their families and friends. They also go shopping at night. The
shopping malls close very late.
In Dubai you can eat Arabic food, Italian food, Mexican food, Chinese food and
Indian food. You can eat food from nearly every country in the world.
Dubai has some very special buildings. The’ Burj Kalifa’ is the tallest building in the
world. At 829m tall, it has 163 floors. On the 122nd floor is a restaurant- the
world’s highest restaurant.

It takes 36 men, about 3 months to clean the outside of the building once.

Dubai shopping mall is the second biggest shopping mall in the world. 750,000
people visit the Dubai Mall every week.
This is Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island in the shape of a palm tree. On an
island, surrounding the palm, is the world-famous Atlantis Hotel. The Atlantis
hotel has the biggest water park in the world.

Look how Dubai has changed since 1950. In the 18th century Dubai was just a
fishing village. In 1822, the population was about 800 people. In 1990 the
poulation was about 500,000, and today about 4 million people live in Dubai.
