WYCKOFF TRADING COURSE
ANALYSIS

WTC (Part I-Analysis) CURRICULUM

WYCKOFF TRADING COURSE Market structural analysis. In this segment, you will learn to:
• Identify the all-important Change of Character in the price and volume of the market or of an individual security, allowing you to anticipate when it will
Part I move from a trending to a non-trending environment, and vice versa
ANALYSIS • Understand the current price structural environment and its implications for trading at any given time
• Recognize key Wyckoff Events, such as buying and selling climaxes, springs, upthrusts, signs of strength or weakness, last points of support or supply, and
Sessions 1-15
more
• Distinguish Wyckoff Phases, which signify predictable developments in all trading ranges (and in all time frames), and allow you to spot when a new trend is
about to emerge, so that you can place trades accordingly

Supply and demand. In this course component, you can learn to “read the market” on any chart through:
• Volume and price analysis, a visual application of Wyckoff’s principle of contrasting effort (volume) vs result (price movement) to understand what the
larger market participants are doing and what they probably intend. This segment will comprise:
o Bar-by-bar as well as swing-by-swing analysis of price and volume
o Analysis of volume patterns in different Wyckoff Phases
o Using historical analogues to compare recent price bar spread and volume with previous events, which can provide additional clues about the
direction and character of future price movement

Relative and comparative analysis. Another foundation of the Wyckoff Method involves comparing the performance of a stock, ETF or another security with that
of the overall market or another instrument, helping you identify trade candidates that are likely to outperform both their peers and the overall market. Elements
of this segment include:
• Relative and Comparative Analysis as an institutional signature of accumulation or distribution
• Identifying “Sweet spots” of outperformance as a predictor of future price behavior
• Filtering and scanning for relative outperformance characteristics

Wyckoff Trading Practicum Course

What are we looking for? What are we doing with it?

- Next directional bias - Deductions
- Up, down, sideways - Traders/students generally interpret observations incorrectly
- Timing of the next directional move - Deductions are a systematic approach to correctly interpret
- Character of the next move observations
- Extension of the move (price moves, spread) - Weight of evidence
- Volume signatures (rallies and reactions)
- Possible duration (velocity of the move)

How are we looking for it? Two questions that WTPC will be dealing with:
- Observations Specifically, WHAT do we have to observe?
- Traders/students generally lack observation skills Specifically, HOW do we build a deductive logic around our observations?
- Observing in a non-objective way
- Not sufficient number of observation data points

SIMON

The below queries are in context of an Accumulation / uptrend.

a) What is the purpose of a Test? Ans: The purpose of a test is to test the supply back into the price area where the test occurs.
b) How do we identify a test – is it a swing low or a hammer candle? Can we have testing at a swing high – checking for demand? Ans: TBC
c) What is regarded as a successful test – do we take into account just structure eg. a higher low is a successful test period – or do we take into volume
as well eg. a higher low on lower vol is a successful test? Ans: TBC
d) What is the concept / process of evaluation action / test – what is considered the ‘action’ and what is considered the ‘test’ and the identification of
these? Eg. is an ‘action’ a widespread upbar and if price exceeds this widespread upbar, then that is regarded as a ‘successful test’? Ans: TBC
