Recently, it has become more common to see expensive weddings being held worldwide.

While
many people tend to hold a positive view on such phenomenon, others have voiced their concerns.
Although grander weddings might create more jobs that benefit employment rate, I argue that they
could mislead children into an illusion that they must spend a lot of money on wedding
ceremonies.

Holding bigger and more expensive weddings could create few more job opportunities to some
extent. Since the larger the weddings are, the more cost on decorations, foods and service would
be required, catering business would then hire more staff to help them prepare. Therefore, if
weddings are getting more expensive around the world, it could become a lucrative business that
can provide jobs for many people.

Although in the short run, this phenomenon could elevate employment rate, for our future
generations, it could leave them with a false impression that wedding ceremonies have to be
expensive and I argue this is a much worse consequence. When children found more and more
weddings costing much, they may believe this is normal and wanted their own wedding
ceremonies in the future to be as expensive. For instance, when a child saw people spending a lot
of money on wedding decorations, gifts and foods, he or she may want to have the same luxury,
otherwise they would not get married.

In conclusion, it is true that having grander weddings may provide more job opportunities for the
grown-ups. Nonetheless, I argue the phenomenon is negative since it could have a negative impact
on children’s perspective on weddings and marriages.
