Failure Mode and Effects Analysis - FMEA

FMEA "Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) was one of the first systematic techniques
for failure analysis. It was developed by reliability engineers in the 1950s"

Aims: Step 3:
_Support quality management Identify potential causes of failures.
_Avoid or reduce risk
Step 4:
Areas of Application: Evaluate the likelyhood of the failures, the severity, and the likelyhood of detecting
_Planning, analysis and optimization of processes the failure before the delivery of products and services.
_Product development
_Construction and planning Calculate the
_Manufactoring
_Project management Step 5:
Develop actions to reduce the failures..
Step 1:
Collect potential failures.. Step 6:
Evaluate the potential actions. Select and apply selected actions.
Step 2:
Describe potential effects of failures.
