Pre-Reading Activities

1) Before we start our short story I want to ask a question

Have you ever had a case of theft

We have a character named john about the short story theft which we will tell and this
character has a bank robbery incident .

If you were a bank employee , how would you feel if an armed thief came to the bank ? What
are your thoughts ?

2) Stimulating student interest in the story

- Consider a condition in which a families are going through a crisis or conflict . Maybe this
is something that occured in your family . Probably that is something that has ocured in a
family you are familiar with

- Considers yourself to be a member of the family . Where have you göne ? What types of
sounds do you hear in the background ? What different types of sounds and smells are
you aware of ? Are you looking at anything specific

- Now try writing two or three paragraphs about your thoughts on . Try to be as ‘’vivid ‘’ as
possible in your description . When you have finished , read your description aloud to the
other students . Maket hem guess what situation is being described .
