General advice
DANGER
Work to be carried out on the electrical equipment must only be performed
by a qualified electrician. Only use genuine fuses which have the correct
strength of electric current.
The switch cupboard must be kept firmly closed during operation.
Before opening the fuse cupboard, make sure that the master switch is in
the OFF position.
DANGER
Before performing any maintenance or adjustment work, turn off the
machine. Turn the master switch to the OFF position and prevent the
machine from been turned on again by using the padlock.
In the event it should become necessary during maintenance or
configuration activity to connect the power or to start the machine in order
to connect or disassemble the safety guards, an adequate security zone
must be established around the machine.
ATTENTION
Other precautions: Turn off the machine before leaving it.
Never remove the safety features or put them out of action by making
changes to the configuration of the machine.
1.9 Workstations
During operation of the machine, the workstations are:
to the front of the machine, at the touch screen,

11 Maintenance
All work involved with the maintenance of this machine may only be
performed by qualified staff.
Maintenance work and inspections should be performed within the
stipulated schedule.
Perform a safety check after every general maintenance service (see
chapter SAFETY FEATURES).
DANGER
Danger from electrical current.
For this reason, every time maintenance work is performed check the
following items: Disconnect the power supply to the machine. Turn the
master switch to the OFF position.
Secure the main switch with the padlock.
Exception:
In the exceptional case when maintenance requires a momentary power up
or a start up of the machine e. g., to connect or disassemble a safety
feature, a restricted zone of at least one meter around the machine must be
established.
Maintenance schedule:
HINT
Never use compressed air to clean the machine. You may only vacuum the
machine.
If a cleaning agent or solvent is used to clean the machine or parts of the
machine:
Be aware that some cleaning agents may react with your product surface
and can destroy it or raise the toxicity level, etc.
Only use suitable cleansing agents. Check the instructions on the
packaging to make sure that they are appropriate.
After any cleaning of the machine always perform a manual zero offset
compensation (see chapter INSTALLATION / MANUAL ZERO OFFSET
COMPENSATION).
Touch calibration
ATTENTION
Before changing the conveyor belt, turn off the machine, set the master
switch to OFF and secure the position with the padlock to prevent
accidental power connection.
HINT
Perform a manual zero offset compensation after completing any
maintenance work at the weighing conveyor (see chapter INSTALLATION /
MANUAL ZERO OFFSET COMPENSATION).
HINT
The conveyor belts are subject to wear and tear. To avoid any unnecessary
downtime of the machine, make sure that you have a stock of conveyor
belts.
Never use force when removing or installing a new weighing belt. To avoid
damaging the Weigh Cell, it should be installed without the use of tools.
Unscrew the nuts of the connecting plug and disconnect it from the
motor.
Unscrew the four quick-action fasteners to be found on the sides of
each of the conveyor belts. Remove the conveyor belt fasteners.
Slacken the conveyor belt by turning the two straining screws for the
guide roller.
Lift the conveyor belt out carefully. Position the new belt on the
driving wheel, and secure the belt.
HINT
Remember to tighten the new belt equally from both sides, otherwise it will
drift off to one side. When properly installed, the belt is positioned at the
center of the roller.
Only tighten the belts by hand. The belt tension is correct when the belt is
lying flat.
Notes
12 Troubleshooting
If a malfunction occurs when the machine is running, the machine will
perform the selected faulty action automatically, see chapter THE
SETTINGS MENU / DEFINITION OF FAULTY ACTIONS MENU.
Depending on the faulty action, the machine is stopped or the
machine cannot be started due to the malfunction.
The malfunction is indicated through a malfunction message in the
status line on the touch screen.
After a warning message has appeared in the status line, it is
acknowledged automatically by an auto-quit-mode and listed into the
error log book.
The same applies to error messages that do not cause a stop of the
machine. Error messages are also - like warning messages -
acknowledged automatically by the auto-quit-mode and listed into the
error log book.
After an info message appears in the status line, it is listed into the
error log book and then it has to be acknowledged manually by the
user in the error log book. Pending info messages are indicated by
the flashing error log book button.
Error messages that cause a stop of the machine are remaining in the
status line and have to be acknowledged manually by the user after
eliminating the fault. In operation mode "Error" error messages that
cause a stop of the machine can be acknowledged by the main
function button "Quit".
The malfunction message on the touch screen must disappear after
being confirmed. The main function button changes to the button
START. The machine is operational and can be started again.
The error messages shown, are represented in such a fashion to
make them easily recognizable.
Immediately confirm any arising malfunctions!
The following pages show an extract of the most common error
messages which may occur. Depending on the equipment of the
machine and the way in which it is used, other error messages may
be shown on the touch screen.
HINT
If a fatal error occurs in the program, the display on the monitor screen is
entirely deleted and an error message: "Unhandled exception..." appears
on a blue background. Write down the error message and forward it to the
customer service department responsible for the scale.
13.1 Storage
Remove all of the supply connections.
Clean the machine.
Store the checkweigher, in a dry, closed off room.
The room temperature should not be greater than 40°C.
Position the machine on a level and stable surface.
Cover the entire machine with a plastic foil.
13.2 Disposal
The disposal of the machine, parts of the machine, fuel and process
materials must be carried out in an environmentally friendly way, and
in accordance with the law. Exact details about how this should be
done, can be obtained from the authorities. (e. g. Water authorities
and environmental agencies, at a local and a national level). Take the
materials to be disposed of, to an authorized disposal/collection point.
