Power Academy

What is it?

Power academy is an acting game where you act out what your character does with some guidelines from
the rules. You play a power user a person gifted with almost magical powers and use them to battle your enemies
and accomplish goals. Your character’s motivations, wants and goals are completely up to you, that is why this game
is great because, to a degree, you can play anything you want.

How do you Play?

You begin by choosing your Major Power, this is what you control and gain more control over as you gain
levels. Your Major Power can be anything from the ones in this paper to ones you made yourself (though those
powers may not be balanced). Next, you pick your Minor Power, your Minor Power is a small and simple thing you
can do. Your Minor Power cannot be the same as your Major Power so if you are a Fire User don’t choose Fire as
your Minor Power. Then, choose an Enhancement; Enhancements are defining characteristics of your character. You
do not have to choose an Enhancement, but it is useful for giving a quirk to your character (beware some
Enhancements require you to forgo your Minor Power). Finally, if you are level 3 or higher you must choose a path,
if your Major and Minor Powers are what your powers are your Path is how you use your powers. If you are unsure
about your Major or Minor Powers use the Quiz bellow to find one that best fits you.

Power Points

Power Points are the currency of sorts that lets you pay for the effects of certain levels. Most powers you
have a level set to them; you must pay the same amount of power points as the level of the effect you want.
Example: You have Water as your Major Power and you want to shoot a fireball at an enemy, fireball is level 3 so
you must pay 3 points to pay that cost. You cannot go negative points, share your points with others and you regain
all your Points after a long rest (not five minutes more like 3 or 4 hours).

Health
The health system is changed from a point based system to a somewhat abstract system. There are five levels of
being damaged:

Healthy: You are at full health and you have not taken damage.
Damaged: You have taken some small injuries not enough to inconvenience you.
Bloodied: You have taken enough damage to be inconvenienced and slowed.
Injured: You have been damaged badly and you may have a broken limb.
Unconscious/Crippled: You have been severely damaged and/or unconscious.

Wind

“The wind, the invisible king, ruler of the sky and I control him.”

Earth

“You take the earth for granted until it grabs you and you are buried under the earth.”

Healing

Enhancements

Rich

You have gain riches do to your own means, your parents or some other means.
Gain: You gain five times as much money as a regular person and/or more from your parents.
Lose: You skip the damaged stage and go to bloodied

Poor

You have lived in the hardest conditioned and have little money to spend, but you have become hardened.
Gain: You gain a stage between healthy and damaged called battered
Lose: You have three times less money than a normal person

Criminal

You have robed places and are running form the law and are good at not being noticed.
Gain: You either have the ability to hide in dark shadows or you can do one extra stage of damage when you are
unnoticed by the target of your attack.
Lose: You are being chased by the law and you must keep a secret identity.

Infiltrator

You are good at deception and can disguise yourself and infiltration a place
Gain: You gain the infiltrator powers
Lose: You can’t have a minor power

0 Powers: disguise yourself as someone else, open simple locks, chameleon and disarm simple traps

Energy User

You are good at controlling pure energy and damaging enemies with them.
Gain: You gain the energy powers
Lose: You can’t have a minor power

0 Powers: energy shards, energy blast, energy sword and energy shield

Path

Dueler

The dueler is a battle hardened power warrior using its powers to blast and destroy the enemies the stand in your
way.
Level 3: You gain a health stage between bloodied and injured called scarred
Level 4: You attacks do one more stage of damage
Level 5: You may spend power points equal to the power’s level to either double attacks damage or do it to another
target.

Strider

The strider is a fast moving and fast thinking power user who can use their powers with finesse not know to normal
power user.
Level 3: You may move twice as fast as normal and can hide in shadows
Level 4: You gain the ability to dodge some attacks from power users or normal weapons
Level 5: You may spend one less power points to damaging effects

Scholar

The scholar studies the use of their powers and can use utility powers from their own studies and they are very
curious and constantly search for knowledge.
Level 3: You gain the scholar’s 0 powers
Level 4: You gain five power points
Level 5: You gain the scholar’s 1 power

0 Power: scry a person/object, shielding rune, copy script and remember thing, person or thought

1 Power: scry a place, trapping rune, create image of memory

Trickster

The trickster is a master of illusion and deception they can take on the appearance of anyone or hide from site or
even create illusions
Level 3: You gain the trickster’s 0 powers
Level 4: You may spend one less power point on powers that deceive
Level 5: You gain the trickster 1 powers

0 Powers: you disguise as another person, make a life-sized illusion, and lie very convincingly.

1 Powers: you may make a large illusion, you make anyone lie convincingly and moving illusions

Enemies
The Elemental Army

The elemental army is a large army of mercenaries that capture power users and force them to join. They are a large
and powerful force but they have not the force to attack the Power Academy.
Goals: They are looking for power users to make themselves more powerful so they are hired more often to make
more money.
Danger Level: 3

The Blue Fog

The blue fog is a group dedicated to finding and destroying all power users. Some have tried to infiltrate the power
academy, but none have succeeded yet.
Goals: They believe the world must be rid of power users, some are hired and some even have powers too.
Danger Level: 4
The Avatars of Holy Gold

The avatars are a group of priests that worship the power user known as The Golden Emperor and he believes the
more power users are sacrificed or converted to worshiping him the more power he gains.
Goals: To capture power users to join the cult or be sacrificed
Danger Level: 3

Glossary
Power Points: The currency you spend to use power of increasingly powerful abilities.

Level X Powers: These are lists of powers you can use and they give an idea of what you can do and you must pay
power points of equal its level to use it.

Minor Power: The small power you choose as a small benefit to your character. (Cannot be the same as your Major
Power)

Major Power: The Power you have most control over and that becomes more powerful overtime.

Path: The way you use your power to effect yourself, your opponents or your friends/allies.

Enhancement: a defining characteristic of your character, they have a benefit and disadvantage.

Health: health is split up into stages of being hurt and when you get damaged distinctively you go down one phase.
