“STRESS”
Nakakakaranas tayo ng stress sa pang araw-araw nating buhay. Mapa
trabaho man, paaralan, tahanan o ano pa mang sitwasyon na nangyayari sa ating
buhay.

Pero ano nga ba ang stress?


Ang stress o tensiyon sa tagalog ay karamdaman na kung saan nakakaramdam
tayo ng iba’t ibang emosyon. Kagaya nalang ng takot, kaba, o pagkabalisa. Ang
stress ay nararamdaman nang lahat no matter what age, gender or race you are
at ito rin ay response ng katawan natin sa isang sitwasyon. When you are
stressed, your body responds as if you are in danger.

Ang ilang dahilan ng stress na karaniwang nararanasan ng tao ay trapiko,


pressure sa paaralan o trabaho at kawalan o kakulangan ng pera.

Alam mo bang hindi lahat ng stress ay negatibo? There is also a positive


stress called eustress. Ang Eustress ay stress na hindi nakakasama sa isang tao. Ito
ay nagbibigay sa katawan natin ng positibong epekto. Halimbawa nalang nito ay
pagkakaroon ng mataas na marka, first day at a new job, at first date.

CNN Philippines conducted an open online poll in 2017 and revealed that
out of 200 respondents, 23% of them identified studies and work as a primary
source of their stress.

The Latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey found that 86% of adult
filipinos experienced stress by the Covid-19 crisis.
There are 2 types of stress:
- Acute Stress
A common form of stress and is short term.
Let’s say, you are driving and the car infront of you suddenly stops.
Your heart is gonna beat faster and 5 minutes later, you will be okay and
your heartbeat will go back to normal.

- Chronic Stress
A stress that is long-term.
It can come from a thought of the past, present or future.
Example:
You had a car accident that leads to trauma.
That thought of you having that experience will keeps going
and going to you mind which is a long-term stress that can lead to your body to
be exhausted.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS THAT YOU ARE STRESSED?


- Emotional Signs
 Anxiety
Always tense and apprehensive.
 Apathy
Lack of interest or concern in a certain situation.
 Irritability
The state of being irritable and rapid mood changes.
 Mental fatigue
Having a hard time paying attention or focusing on a task.
- Behavioral Signs
 Avoidance of responsibilities
Example: putting blames to others
 Self-Destructive Behavior
Doing something that can cause self-harm like smoking and
drinking alcohol.
 Self-Neglect
Not taking care of yourself and stops doing activities that are
usually enjoyed.
 Poor Judgement
The inability to make appropriate decisions.

- Physical Signs
 Frequent Illness
Madalas na pagkakaroon ng sakit.
 Exhaustion
Mabilis na pagkapagod.
 Overuse of medicines
Sobrang pag-inom ng gamot dahil sa sakit na nararamdaman.
