Homeless Hero

A small child ‘Albert’ is at home and the house is prepared / decorated for Christmas.

It is night time and as he gets ready for bed he looks out of his window and sees a teenage
girl dragging a sleeping bag into the sheltered gateway of the neighbour's house opposite.

She then proceeds to get into sleep bag and huddle down for the night - She's obviously
sleeping rough.
He gets up the following morning and finds her sleeping bag tucked up and stashed under a
nearby bush.
The following night he sees her repeat the exercise and get the sleeping bag out again and
sleep rough again.
He feels bad for her, the weather is poor and it's cold & dark outside.

That evening his mother asked him to make his ‘Santa list’ for Christmas.
Albert has already made one and goes upstairs and sits at his desk in his bedroom and
reads the list.
Albert then starts to cross out all of the things he wanted putting a line through them -
computer games - toys - books etc
Albert then adds one extra request on the bottom of the list.
He writes that he would “Like some money for something special”
He gives the list to his Mother and then goes up to bed once again looking out of the
window and witnessing the girl sleeping rough again.
While Albert is asleep the mother and father are looking at his ‘Santa List’ and are really
shocked to see that the toys that he has been raving about all year have now had a line
drawn through.
They comment on this but then the father says “Well all he is asking for is money that is for
‘Something Special’ , if that's what he wants maybe we should respect it , we can always
give him a couple of small presents also.
The next scene is Albert with his parents on Christmas Eve by the tree.

He can see a few small gifts with his name but his Father reminds him ther family tradition is
to just open one present on Christmas Eve and he hands Albert an envelope marked ‘To
Albert from Santa’
He opens the envelope and it has money in it and he smiles greatly.
His Mother and Father smile also.
They all go to bed but Albert looks out of the window to see the girl sleeping rough again.
He sneaks down the stairs and he slips the envelope with the money in it into her sleeping
bag but as he quietly goes back into the house the lock clicks shut waking the girl who finds
the envelope.
The next scene is the girl using the money to pay for a bed in a local shelter where while
booking her in, the staff mention that they can get her help from social services to seek
permanent housing.
The final scene is Albert asleep in his bed with a massive grin on his face.
That's for filling the hero brief of the project he sneaks back to bed and the final scene is him
resting with us very content smile on his face and the girl going into a shelter and give the
money to get accommodation for the night most
