Christmas is a festival of hope and love. It leads us to a new way of life.

Today a savior has been born to

you. He is Christ the Lord. (Lk2:11) While the fight between darkness and light, life, and death, God and
Satan goes on, we are confident that in the end, light will prevail, and God will win. The Lord will
become all to all. The Child Jesus lying in the manger is surrounded by the darkness of a sinful world. In
that darkness he has become light. So to remain away from him means to live in darkness.

It was in order to spread the good news of love, that Christ the prince of peace was born. Jesus Christ is
the friend of the poor, the sick, the sinner and those abandoned. Child is not only the one who brings
the good news, but he is the good news of humankind’s salvation.

Concluding Hymn: Hark the herald

Every year is different. Some years are better than others, but there are
always blessings to be found. Whether it be in the comfort of God during hard
times, or unending blessings and good news. Most years fall somewhere in
the middle, but God is in control of it all.

This year, consider giving an opening Christmas prayer. If you’ve never done
it before, it might be a bit uncomfortable. I know many people who are new to
public prayer might feel a bit uncomfortable about it. Just remember this, if
there are any unsaved people hearing it, it’s an opportunity to show them what
a relationship with God truly looks like.

You can show them that it is about being humble about your accomplishments
(because they’re not really our accomplishments), and it is about being
thankful for what you have. I know many people get concerned about an
unsaved person being offended, and that can happen, but if you’re only
speaking goodness about them and over their lives, what do you have to be
ashamed of?

I hope these opening prayer samples for your Christmas party have helped
inspire you to not only say a prayer, but perhaps even a starting point to
speak God’s love over your event, family and friends. Merry Christmas!
