To our highly respected school principal Mr. Raul O.

Ponto, my dear teachers,

fellow students good morning! I’m standing before you this morning as a newly
elected Supreme Student Government President of Leyte National High School for
this school year. Most of us have potential. And many of us have not discovered
what it is all about. One of my first priorities will be to create opportunities for
everyone to display their skills and talent. We cannot do it on our own. We need
the guidance and support and encouragement of our teachers. I am sure they will
extend all possible help in this regard. In fact we are blessed to have the
opportunity to study in this School which has always set standards of excellence
not only in academic results but more importantly in student-teacher relationship. I
thank you all for giving me a chance to stand this position as SSG President, I
know it’s a big responsibility for me to showcase my actions and make platforms
that develop our school into child-friendly and motivating environment, I will
make sure that all of us will do fun activities together to make this school a great
one.

I am humbled by your confidence that I will be able to lead and represent you on
the student government. I also want to express my gratitude to my campaign
manager and to everyone else who played a part in this race. Additionally, I would
like to thank the other candidates who ran for office. You all carried out fair
campaigns that made for an exciting and competitive election. I was intrigued by
many of your ideas and insights, and I hope that we are able to implement some of
the excellent suggestions you all had. The commitment of being an effective
leaders who are not only good in implementing but facilitating, supporting and
listening to other students’ opinion. Next, I would like to congratulate my fellow
elected officers. I look forward to serving as your leader while we work together as
a team to represent this group of extraordinary and diverse students. You all also
had some excellent platforms as well, and I know we can effect a lot of change
together. As your newly elected president, I promise to take into account each of
your interests and your voices on the many issues we will face during the
upcoming year.

This pandemic has challenged the education system of various schools around the
country. The lack of face to face interaction between students and teachers made it
difficult for them to adjust to the new mode of learning along with the new normal.
With our country still in the midst of a pandemic, education is now being pushed
into effect through the use of online classes and modular distance learning for
those students without good internet connectivity. Our teachers work harder than
ever before to ensure that we could still be engaged to learn all our subjects even
without their physical presence. Amidst of the pandemic, starting the School year
(2020-2021), teachers are challenging to get into the mode of preparing for the
opening of the classes, five months of preparation to have a good implementation
of modular distance learning. In the month of preparation for the modular distance
learning, teachers often face their laptop to make the self-learning modules under
there subject for evaluation. Almost every day, teachers are in the School, some of
teachers learn and strategize using technology resources. On the other hand, it is
obvious that not all teachers are good when it comes to technology because some
are old age that are struggling to produce and meet the required criteria in making
the modules. All teachers are not prepared for challenges of online classroom and
much more not prepared for working so hard to achieve well-organized and well-
made self-learning modules, because some of schools are having a problem
financially for lacking of funds for the school supplies, like, bond paper and
printer. As a school leader I am here to help our teachers in everything I can do, I
will help to solicit, to deliver the modules to the students that are residing in a far
flung barangay, to print the modules, and to my fellow students, I am here also to
help you to achieve your dream even we are in a pandemic. Our team will be
giving a school supplies for all of you and we will also conduct a home visitation
to lessen your stress. I will be an SSG President who will be full of energy and
spirit; working together with students; guided by our teachers. Together we can
surpass this dilemma. Thank you once again for hearing me out I promise you all I
will do my very best and won’t let this school down as the SSG President. Thank
you.
