A. Write the events of the following dates in the development of Table


Tennis.
1. 1880 – The year when the game table tennis began when a player of a
lawn tennis adapted it to play indoors during the winter.
2. 1884 – The name ping pong notably originates from the
onomatopoeic sound of the ball that appeared in the Far East in 1884:
3. 1901- The game caught many attention in this year as tournaments
were conducted with over 300 participants.
4. 1902 – A Japanese Professor introduced the game to the university
students. The game was also introduced to the people of the Vienna and
Budapest in England by the British sales person, Edward Shires.
5. 1922 - The Ping-Pong Association was formed and was renamed The
Table Tennis Association.
6. 1927 – When the first championship held and won by Hungarian
named Dr. Jacobi.
7. 1950 – The game turned upside down by the invention of the sponge
or sandwich rubber, this new material for bats, which, up until now, had
been a relatively simple affair with a universal thin covering of pimpled
rubber.
8. 1988 – The culmination of the game has been its recognition as an
Olympic Games sport, being featured for the first time in Seoul.

B. Describe each equipment.


1. Racket - Rackets are sometimes known as bats or paddles. ITTF's
official designation for the device used to the ball was hit. Rackets are
constructed of plywood and inverted rubber, with a thin layer of sponge
in between.
2. Paddle Cases - It is used to protect and lengthen the life of a player's
paddle. The interior is coated with a foam layer that protects the paddle
from chipping and the rubber from peeling.
3. Ping pong Ball - A tiny, lightweight celluloid balls that are used in
ping pong or table tennis. The weight is 2.7 grams, and the diameter is
40 millimeters.
4. Table - Are made of manufactured wood and coated in a smooth
finish to decrease friction and allow the ball to bounce as much as
possible. Table tennis tables are 2.74m long, 1.525m broad and 0.76m
high. The net, which measures 15.25cm in height, is included.
5. Net and post - The net should be suspended by a string attached at
either end to a 15.25cm tall upright post, with the post's outside limits
15.25cm outside the side line. The net's top should be 15.25cm above
the playing surface for its whole length.
6. Table tennis robot - A table tennis robot is essentially a mechanism
that can shoot table tennis balls in a controlled manner from one end of a
table tennis table to the other.
