An office has three copy machines.

Each copier is a different model and all three machines are quite
old. The probability of cach machine working on a randomly chosen workday is shown below. The
copy machines break down independently of each other.

Probability

Copier A 0.72

Copier B Copier C 0.92

0.88

a) What is the probability that all three copy machine are not working on a randomly selected
workday?

b) What is the probability that at least one copy machine is working on a randomly selected
workday?

c) What is the probability that copier A or Copier B is working?

d) What is the probability that copier C is working?

a) Seven males and five females are to be interviewed for a job as a community College instructor.
The top four candidates are sent forward to the president for a second interview. If all the
candidates are equally qualified, find the probability that four females get a second interview.

b) For 18-20 year olds, 27% believe in aliens and ghosts. Given that 35% of 18-20 years believe in
ghosts given they believe in aliens, what probability believes in aliens. (5)

Q3. a) Raghu is making cold sales calls. The probability of a sale on each call is 0.4. The calls may be
considered independent tri
What is the probability that he has exactly five failed calls before his second successful sales call?
a) Suppose that a game is to be played with a single die assumed fair. In this game a player wins $10
if a 1 turns up, $20 if a 3 turns up; loses $30 if a 5 turns up; while the player neither wins nor loses If

significance of (1) 0.05 and (ii) 0.01.
