“Working from Home: A New Way Leading to a Contemporary World”

(Video Analysis)

On 24th day of September 2020, a veteran television presenter


from ANC News, Mr. David Celdran, interviewed Mrs. Merlee Jayme, the
Global Co-President, DENTSU MCGARRYBOWEN on how working from home is
reshaping our world. Their one on one interview has tackled the
drastic changes brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic in both
commerce and e-commerce industry. On how huge in impacted the flow
of supplies and productions. Thus, the behaviors of the customers in
purchasing from physical and online stores.

Due to the wide spread of the Corona Virus Pandemic, it has


altered everyone’s way of living from their usual way of living and
handling things are to slowly coping up with the challenges in order
to meet the quota most especially for working adults and to move
forward and face another challenging day afterwards. Having a sudden
new arrangement of things somehow disabled and limited the
abilities, skills, competencies, and capabilities of the workers to
do the things they are capable of doing so. This correlates what
Mrs. Jayme stated in the video of “I am a push person; I get my
ideas by observing people. I love eavesdropping, I love
brainstorming, I need my whiteboard. I draw on it, I put my bad
ideas and good idea on it. I’m also a physical person. Like I run in
the office.” See? This impacted Mrs. Jayme’s normal way of handling
her work and collaborating ideas with her subordinate. Most
especially that she is an Advertising Executive. Indeed, the new
normal of working from home had brought so many inevitable changes
that turned anyone’s life upside down. Just like the collaboration
of ideas and talking face to face explaining the core point of their
ideas and suggestions. So according to Global Co-President Mrs.
Jayme, it is somehow hard to cope-up with different struggles and
challenges, not to mention that it is indeed hard to undergo and
embrace these challenges but as she is pointing there are still some
advantages from this challenging set up. Because as what she
mentioned, it is convenient for her to not travel and take a flight
from one place to another every single time just to have a meeting
with different nation’s leaders. But then again, she added that when
it comes to creative minds and such, she finds it difficult to
comprehend and visualize the ideas due to the barriers present in
between the subordinate and her, as an advertising executive of a
well-known company or agency which is the Global.

COVID-19 struck fast and hard. And most of people have to hit
the ground running to accommodate others attitudes and habits as one
started working from home. With this, working from home become any
working person’s new reality which involves even how the workers
dress themselves in the previous setting to today’s new set up. And
as we all know though attires are paid lesser attention as long as
an employee is productively working and participating, still,
attires are the basic compound in efficiently and comfortably
working from their designated homes. Attires are still considered as
one’s overall appearance in facing the clients and superiors. It
still gives impacts and sense of formality even if a person is just
working from home. Besides you are not just doing some unnecessary
things to do right? One is still working, most especially now that a
person is at home. So, why not opening one’s camera when having a
zoom meeting. It is still the value of having a proper etiquette
when facing and presenting to the superiors and clients so it is an
automatic response to open the camera as a sign of respect and
dedication to the work and meeting.

Next, is how the purchasing behavior of the consumers are


affected by the pandemic. And Mrs. Jayme said that she was once
walking in the mall and saw that all of the fashion stores are
widely open however nobody is purchasing or buying from a physical
store. In this case, the entrepreneur must change strategy and in
how it presents its goods to its consumers or to its target market
because in today’s situation, every businessman should consider the
efficacy of their products more than ever. They should prioritize
the products necessity and use for the needs of the people.

Due to the wide spread of Corona Virus, the way it altered the
lives of the people and put everyone in not so pleasant situations,
everyone must still adapt and accept the situation every people in
the world are in as of the moment. It is a given fact that people
around the globe is sensing that the previous normal isn’t coming
back, that all the people are being born into a new normal: a new
kind of surrounding, society, relationship to the earth, and a new
experience of being a better individual for their betterment. And
the only thing that all the human being in this world need to do is
to ACCEPT THINGS ARE.
