Research question: How does temperature affect the rate of a chemistry reaction? Brief background information: -There are several factors which will influence the rate of a chemical reaction. - When the temperature increases, the rate if reaction also increases. - Aim: To investigate the effect of temperature on the rate of reaction. - Method: Performed 3 experiments, at 3 different temperature conditions +room temperature: 10cm3 Iodine solution and Starch solution in 2 separate test tubes, make sure stopwatch at 0. Pour 2 test tubes into a beaker. And wait it change color and press stop of the stopwatch, calculate the rate of reaction +warm temperature: Do as same, but warm-up 10cm3 Iodine solution and Starch solution to 40°C +cold temperature: It also does the same, but 10cm3 Iodine solution and a Starch solution put in ice to decreasing 0°C What kind of data are going to collect: qualitative -Independ variable: Temperature -Depend variable: rate of rection -Control variable: Volume and concentration of “iodine solution”, volume and concentration of “starch solution”, size of cubed beaker. Material: -starch solution: (2g starch + 500cm3 boiling water) PASTE +500cm3 water -Iodine solution: 2g KClO3 + 1000cm3 H2O -thermometer -Ice in a beaker -stopwatch -Benson banner to heat up the water -6 test tubes - empty beaker -matches
