1.ý nghÜa cña phÇn tr¶ lêi Yes /No ®èi víi víi c©u hái ®u«i phñ ®Þnh còng t¬ng tù nh víi c©u hái tr¶ l¬× Yes / no phñ
®Þnh th«ng thêng.
VÝ dô: You're not going out tonight ,are you? yes=(yes ,I'm going out)
no=(I'm not going out)
2.ë mÖnh ®Ò têng thuËt nÕu cã nh÷ng tr¹ng tõ sau : neither (kh«ng ai trong hai ngêi/vËt), none ( kh«ng ai trong ba ng-
êi/vËt trë lªn), no one, nobody ,scarcely (hiÕm khi).barely,(ever) (hiÕm khi),seldom(hiÕm khi),nothing,never,hardly
(hiÕm khi) , ta coi nh c©u phñ ®Þnh vµ dïng ®u«i hái kh¼ng ®Þnh.
VÝ dô: Neither of them failed the exam.did they? Nothing was said ,was it?
Tom hardly ever goes to parties, does he?
3.®¹i tõ nh©n xng ®u«i cho this /that = it,cho these/those =they.
VÝ dô: This/that is your bag, is'nt it? these/those are yours ,aren't they?
4.Nh÷ng c©u cã cÊu t¹o There +be th× there ®îc sö dông lµm ®¹i tõ nh©n xng ®u«i.
VÝ dô: There is a meeting tonight ,isn't there?
5.chñ ng÷ cña mÖnh ®Ò têng thuËt lµ everything,something,anything,nothing th× ®¹i tõ nh©n xng ®u«i lµ it
VÝ dô: Everything is ready, isn't it? Something has happened, hasn’t it?
6.Chñ ng÷ la everyone,everybody,someone,somebody,anyone,anybody,no one,nobody th× ta dïng “they”
VÝ dô: Everyone took the rest, didn't they? Nobody has arrived, have they?
Everybody is learning English, aren’t they?
7.Sau Let's th× ®u«i ®Ó hái lµ “shall we”.
VÝ dô: Let's go for a walk, shall we? Let’s stop here, shall we?
* Let trong câu xin phép (Let us /let me ): dùng will you ? (Let me do it, will you? – Hãy để tôi làm việc đó được không?) 
Ví dụ Let us go now, will you?
* Let trong câu đề nghị giúp người khác (Let me): dùng may I?
Let me do it for you, may I?
8.ë c©u mÖnh lÖnh kÓ c¶ c©u kh¼ng ®Þnh vµ phñ ®Þnh ta ®Ìu dïng ®u«i hái “will you”
Ví dụ Open the door, will you? Stop talking, will you?
Don't be late, will you? Don’t tell anybody what I have said, will you?
Note: MÖnh lÖnh kh¼ng ®Þnh còng cã thÓ dïng ®u«i won’t + you?
Ví dụ Listen to me, will you/won’t you?
9.ë mÖnh ®Ò kh¼ng ®Þnh lµ I am ta dïng ®u«i hái aren't I .ta còng cã thÓ dïng am I not nhng kh«ng phæ
biÕn vµ chØ ®¬c dïng trong v¨n phong trang träng ,x¨ giao(formal)
Ví dụ I'm late, aren't I? I’m on duty tonight, aren’t I?
Note: I am not on duty tonight, am I?

10.MÖnh ®Ò têng thuËt b¾t ®Çu b»ng I + các động từ sau: think, believe, suppose, figure, assume, fancy,
imagine, reckon, expect, seem, feel that + clause. th× ta cÊu t¹o c©u hái ®u«i cho mÖnh ®Ò sau.
Ví dụ I think you shouldn't buy that house, should you? I believe she is a good woman, isn’t she?
I think she isn’t a good woman, is she? I don’t think she is a good woman, is she?
11. S + Had better+ V ta tạo đuôi là hadn’t + S?
Ví dụ They had better work harder, hadn’t they?
12. Câu bắt đầu bằng It seems that + Mệnh đề thì đuôi hỏi được cấu tạo theo mệnh đề chính ( sau that)
Ví dụ It seems that he is good at repairing things, isn’t he?
13. Câu mở đầu là I wish thì dùng đuôi “ may I”
Ví dụ I wish to play football well, may I?
14. Mệnh đề trước dấu phẩy có MUST, thì câu hỏi đuôi sẽ có các trường hợp như sau:

* Nếu must chỉ sự cần thiết S must….., needn’t S? 
(Họ cần phải học tốt hơn đúng chứ?)

You mustn’t come late, must you ?

* Nếu must chỉ sự cấm đoán S must……, must S? 
(Bạn không được đến muô ̣n phải không?)

* Nếu must chỉ sự dự đoán ở Câu hỏi đuôi dựa vào He must be a very intelligent boy, isn’t he?
hiện tại đô ̣ng từ theo sau must ( Anh ta ắt hẳn là 1 câ ̣u bé rất thông minh, phải không ?)

* Nếu must chỉ sự dự đoán ở S must……, He must have stolen my money, hasn’t he? (Bạn chắc hẳn đã
quá khứ ( must +have+ p.p) have/has(not) S?  lấy cắp tiền của tôi đúng không?)
15. Với câu cảm thán, đuôi hỏi được câu tạo bởi am/is.are + Đại từ được đổi từ danh từ trong câu cảm thán.
What a nice house, isn’t it? What a handsome man, isn’t he?
How obedient the children are, aren’t they?
16. Chủ từ là mệnh đề danh từ, đại từ nhân xưng đuôi là “ it”

17. “Ought to” có đuôi hỏi là “ Shouldn’t + S”

18. Chủ từ là đại từ bất định “ ONE” thì dại từ nhân xưng đuôi là ONE hoặc YOU
