Spring awakening

Spring awakening is a musical, written by Frank Wedekind (german) in 1891.

This musical is very controversial and tells the tale of a group of teenagers.

The music of the play was composed by Ducan Sheik and the lyrics were written by

Steven Sater. The musical opened on Broadway (Eugene O’Neill theater) in 2006 and

closed in 2009. The production has then taken to the West End and Sydney and are

currently on tour all around the US.

Frank Wedekind
He was born the 14th of July in Hanover (Germany) and died in Munich, march 9, 1918.

He made several piece of theater, he’s most famous was Spring Awakening, which was
very controversial at the time.

Ducan Sheik
He was born in 1969 and he is a song-writter and composer. He became famous when he
sarted to write songs for plays.

Steven Sater
He’s an american poet, musician and playwrighter.

He became internationally know after his participation in the musical “Spring

Awakening”

Spring awakening won 7 Tony award in 2007, including the tony for best musical and
direction.
