Problem Statement

You work as a data analyst at IFP, a nationally recognised news agency, which is based out of New
Delhi, and provides news reports and feeds to magazines, newspapers and TV broadcasters all over
the country. The Sports Editor of the agency has approached you to build a Tableau dashboard of IPL
statistics over the years since its inception in order to create an infographic for a newsletter that their
team is working on. For this newsletter, in some cases, they will use the visual representations as you
have created in Tableau directly for their infographic, and in a few other cases, they will use important
statistics after trying out the different filters and customisations that you have provided for interactivity.
Therefore, you are expected to build an interactive dashboard in Tableau for this purpose. Let’s watch
the upcoming video and listen to Shreyas as he states the broad objective of this assignment.

Findings

● Whether the players won or lost the toss, fielding was chosen by most of them.
● The biggest wins amongst IPL teams were :
○ Runs : Mumbai Indians
○ Wickets : Kolkata Knight Riders
● Throughout the seasons of IPL, the highest total was hailed by Chennai Super Kings
246 runs in 2010.
● Batsmen who scored the maximum runs and took the maximum wickets in 2014 :
○ Orange cap contenders : RV Uthappa (660)
○ Purple cap contenders : R Ashwin (17)

● Batsman who hits most no. of fours and sixes in 2014 :

○ Fours : RV Uthappa (74)
○ Sixes : DA Warner (24)
● Overall season :
○ Fours : G Gambhir (484)
○ Sixes : CH Gayle (266)
● The highest overall win % i.e, 69.8% as Home was in 2013. It also has the lowest win %
for away i.e., 28.8 %.
