In Arabic….
The word for the (il) although the way it appears changes depending on the first letter of the following noun.
Of the 28 letters in the Arabic alphabets, 14 are called sun letters and 14 are moon letters. Nouns which
start with a moon letter take (il) [ il – maghrib] (Morocco), but if a noun starts with a sun letter, the (il)
assimilated with the first letter is doubled pronounced (is-sa9uudiyya)
Read the following examples:
